Delighted to attend the annual Publishing Ireland Irish Publishers Conference Trade Day, as part of this year's Dublin Book Festival, at the Dublin Castle Printworks on Fri 10 November. A thoroughly interesting, innovative and enjoyable day of talks, discussions, conversation and meeting new and old contacts from the same and related industries. Bookselling Ireland and other trade stands, the on-site The Gutter Bookshop, Dublin, attending other Dublin Book Festival events and the goodie bag gift. Special thanks to Publishing Ireland for putting all together & especially President of Publishing Ireland, Ivan O'Brien of The O'Brien Press. Thanks to the guest speakers Dr Andreas Guadamus on the Importance of AI for Publishers; Ireland's leading career psychologist, Sinead Brady, on Total Reset of career versus life skills; Managing Editor of The Royal Irish Academy, Ruth Hegarty, and Lucy Hogan on Open Access Books and the National Open Research Forum; Sara Mulruan from Nielsen BookScan with a review of the Irish Market Book Data for 2022; CEO of the Irish Copyright Licensing Agency, Samantha Holman, on the developments of Copyright and legislation, plus the keynote speaker, publishing veteran and author, Richard Charkin.
