Every single year, I promise myself I won’t do it.

I won’t leave my tax return until the very last minute. I won’t sit in a blind panic, scrambling for paperwork, swearing at my laptop, and wondering why I didn’t just get it done weeks ago.

And yet… here we are. Again.

It’s a stressful, last-minute rush. It’s not done as well as it could be. And, honestly, it’s just not the best way to do things.

And that’s exactly how so many people treat their social media.

It’s the thing that keeps getting pushed to the bottom of the to-do list. You know you should be posting, but by the time you get around to it, you’re either out of ideas, too busy, or just throwing something together for the sake of it.

The result?
❌ Posts that don’t really say what you want them to say
❌ A lack of engagement because there’s no strategy
❌ Frustration that your content isn’t working as well as it should

(Sound Familiar?)

That’s where outsourcing (a.k.a. getting someone who actually enjoys doing this stuff) makes all the difference.

Here’s why letting us take social media off your plate at Social Honeycomb is a much smarter move:

✅ No more last-minute stress – Your content is planned, scheduled, and working for you, not adding to your workload.
✅ Better posts = better results – Rushed posts won’t get the reach or engagement you want. We create content that actually connects with your audience.
✅ More time back for YOU – Focus on growing your business, looking after clients, or, you know, enjoying your evenings without social media guilt.
✅ A consistent, visible brand – Stop ghosting your audience and start showing up in a way that makes an impact.
✅ Expertise that moves the needle – We know what works (and what doesn’t). Your social media won’t just look good—it’ll get results.

If social media is always the thing you’re scrambling to do at the last minute (or not doing at all), it’s time to change that.

Drop me a message, and let’s get it sorted! 🚀 Oh and can someone recommend an accountant?😜

Could you properly connect with 1000 people in one go?

No? So stop expecting your social media posts to do the same!

It was fantastic to be at the Aspire Networking meeting today—meeting new people and getting to know others better reminded me why I love these events. The energy, the conversations, and the connections were a great way to start the day!

And it got me thinking… networking, like social media, isn’t about how many people you meet or followers you have; it’s about the quality of the engagement and connections you build.

Think about it this way: if you walked into a room of 200 or even 1,000 people, it would be overwhelming, right? You couldn’t possibly meet everyone, let alone build meaningful relationships with them all in one go. Social media is no different.

Instead of chasing numbers, focus on connecting with the right people—those who truly align with your goals, values, or audience. A smaller, engaged network will always outperform a massive but disconnected one.

So let's focus on quality over quantity—in networking, in social media, and in life.

What’s your approach to networking or building connections online? I’d love to hear your thoughts! ⬇️

3 ways to elevate your game by using insights and analytics.

Successful social media isn’t about beating everyone else—it’s about showing up better every time, just like athletes do when striving for a new PB.

So regardless of whether you’re running a padel club, swim school, or sports venue, social media analytics will help you improve your performance step by step.

This is why they matter:

🏟️ Track Your Social Media “PB”

Think of analytics as your stopwatch or training log. Focus on metrics like reach, engagement, website clicks, and conversion rates as these are the benchmarks that will tell you how you’re performing. By regularly checking them it will help you identify what’s working and where adjustments are needed— this enables you to turn small wins into consistent growth.

🏋️‍♂️ Fine-Tune Your Strategy

Analytics offer actionable feedback, just like the coach reviewing your form. By analysing trends in your content, you can refine your tactics—whether that means focusing on more reels, changing your style of content, engaging with followers differently, or shifting the tone of your messaging.

Experiment, measure, and repeat for continuous improvement.

🏅 Progress, Not Perfection

In sports and social media alike, it’s not always about winning but about improving, although we all love to win occasionally. Analytics show how you’re connecting with your audience and help you focus on building engagement over time. Setting goals for your “PB” in reach, likes, comments, or click-through rates gives you focus, and make sure you celebrate the progress you make along the way.

So in short:

🎯 Treat analytics as your performance tracker.
⚙️ Use the data to amplify your strengths and address any gaps you may have.
📈 Continuously adapt to trends and audience behaviour for long-term success.

By leveraging analytics your social media strategy will smarter, stronger, and enable you to achieve new milestones. 🏆

Twenty Twenty Thrive - This year is all about growing Social Honeycomb, getting fit and entering some sports events.

So it was great to kick things off with the lovely members of Group at their Cirencester breakfast meeting at

The room was filled with inspiring energy as we connected, collaborated, and shared ideas. From personal growth to professional ambitions, the positive and supportive atmosphere was infectious.

It’s always amazing to be in a space with like-minded professionals who are motivated to make a difference and build genuine connections whilst supporting a great charity like Trust.

I’ve spent a long time trying to find the right group that works for me - you know the one, one that is at the right time of day, with the best people and in a location that works so I’m looking forward to joining Aspire as a permanent member and can’t wait to see where this journey takes us all and the business and friendships it brings.

Why do people use social media and scroll through posts?

It’s not just about consuming content and killing time — it’s about connection to ideas, people and organisations.

Whether they’re on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, or LinkedIn, people crave experiences that resonate emotionally.

They’re looking to:
• 𝗙𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗱: Connecting with people who share similar beliefs or experiences.
• 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗲𝘄: Gaining insights or advice that makes them better, smarter, or more informed.
• 𝗟𝗮𝘂𝗴𝗵: A moment of humour that brightens their day, an escape from the norm.
• 𝗕𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱: Stories of growth, resilience, or success that motivate them to take action.
• 𝗙𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱: Validation that they’re not alone in their challenges or triumphs.

Emotion is the bridge between your message and your audience, it’s what draws them in to you gang.

Posts that evoke a reaction—whether it’s a smile, a moment of reflection, or a deep “aha!”—are the ones people engage with, remember, and share.

If your goal is to truly connect with your audience, ask yourself:
• How will this post make them feel?
• Will it inspire, educate, or uplift them?

When you connect emotionally, you go beyond the algorithm—you create real, lasting impact so it is essential that you really understand who your audience is and their pain points.

So when you write your next post think about how you want the reader to feel and what emotion you want to evoke.

Spot the Difference! 👀 👀

Anyone who’s attended my workshops or had a 1:1 session with me knows I emphasise engaging with others’ content just as much as creating your own. Engaging with comments on your posts is just as vital!

Here’s why:

• Replying to comments shows appreciation and builds connections.
• It’s polite and encourages further engagement.
• But… you might miss some comments if your settings aren’t right!

🔍 Before you post, check your comment settings as there are 2 options:

• Most Relevant: Only shows select comments, so you might miss a few!
• Most Recent: Displays all comments, so nothing gets overlooked.

Engagement isn’t just about posting—it’s about being part of the conversation.

When did you last check your settings?

Hip Hip Hooray!

It’s not my birthday, but I’m thrilled to share that I finally have a date for my hip replacement surgery!

If you know me, you’ll know I’ve had my fair share of complaints about my hip, often blaming it for holding back my “legendary” athletic potential! 😂 (A car accident in my younger years left me with a shattered pelvis, which has caused no end of trouble.) But now, it’s time for a fresh start and a healthier future, although I think I have missed my Olympic calling!

On the flip side, this means I’ll be out of action for all of December. So, if you’re considering working with me before the end of 2024, now’s the perfect time to get in touch.

If 2025 is your focus, maybe you’re looking to kick off the new year with an impactful Social Media Strategy or need guidance to elevate your company’s presence and attract more clients, let’s get things in motion now—so we can hit the ground running in January! (Yes, I went there! 😉)

To all my cycling friends, clients and those who've stumbled across this post.

Different clothing could save your life!

As the clocks have gone back we now find ourselves doing more in the dark.

Cycling home from school, work or out training how visible are you?

I saw this image of a child with and without hi vis clothing and it really resonated.

Last week I was driving, it was dusk - ish and a cyclist was on my side of the road. I could see him because he had a brightly coloured jacket and big lights, what I didn't see was the person 20 meters behind him (and much closer to me) who was wearing dark clothing with no lit lights until I was a few meters away from him.

You may think you are well easily visible or that you will be home before it's dark but why take the chance?

Lecture over!!!

Have you ever wondered what being locked out of LinkedIn would mean for you and your business?

LinkedIn has some pretty strict rules around what it will and won't allow here are just a few

❌ logging into someone else's profile and posting on their behalf
❌ being part of a commenting pod
❌ sending too many connection requests

All are fairly easy mistakes to make. So if you were locked out what would you lose?

You would lose access to several important features and information critical for networking, job searching, and professional engagement, including:

❗️Profile Visibility and Personal Branding: Loss of access to showcase skills, experiences, recommendations, and endorsements.

❗️Professional Network: No access to existing connections or the ability to send/receive connection requests, diminishing networking opportunities.

❗️Messages and Communications: Inability to access or send direct messages, which may include vital professional communications.

❗️Content and Posts: Loss of previously posted content, articles, updates, and engagement metrics (likes, comments).

❗️Groups and Communities: Restriction from engaging in professional groups or industry-specific communities.

❗️Job Application History: Access to saved job searches, job applications, and notifications for new job postings would be restricted.

❗️Insights and Analytics: Inability to track post-performance metrics and engagement insights.

❗️Professional Development: Loss of access to LinkedIn Learning content if subscribed.

❗️Personalisation and Saved Data: Any saved searches, preferences, and other customised account data would be inaccessible.

Now the chances of you being locked out are pretty remote but it is worth keeping copies of contact details or downloading relevant information and saving it elsewhere.

And in the worst-case scenario use this link to contact LinkedIn for help.

A well-rounded social media feed should strike a balance like the perfect weekend I've just had in Cornwall. It was a mix of improving my padel skills, refreshing sea swimming, and quality time with friends.

Why? I hear you ask.

Well, a great LinkedIn feed is like this ideal weekend—diverse and engaging.

Here’s how:

Padel 🎾: Represents professional learning and insights. Sharing valuable content, such as industry trends or success stories, keeps your audience engaged and establishes you as a thought leader.

Sea Swimming 🌊 : Reflects health and well-being. Posts about your experiences, challenges, or even failures can add a human touch to your profile, making connections more authentic and relatable.

Crabbing 🦀 : well, it would be rude not to!

Fun with Friends 😊: Symbolises networking and community. Engage with others' content, celebrate their achievements, and be part of the community. This interaction keeps your network strong and vibrant.

Just like you wouldn’t want to spend your entire weekend doing one activity, your Instagram / LinkedIn / Facebook etc feed shouldn’t focus solely on one type of post. Diversify, engage, and enjoy turning up consistently.

Finally, like the last clip, things may not go according to plan but the clouds will pass!

Thank you Cotswold House Hunter for the best weekend!

Consistency is the key.

This is something I share with my social media strategy clients and those who attend my workshops.

The theory is great but how do you put it into practice?

Create a plan, I hear you cry!

Great idea, but what if you are a bit like me and sometimes deviate from the plan because something new comes along or something else takes priority?

The answer is to get some accountability partners.

Meet Helen and Fiona Huck .design They are going to keep me on track and growing Social Honeycomb without deviating wildly or suffering imposter syndrome.

Next time we meet, at the lovely they will have a consistent approach to their social media so follow and, amongst other things, I will have gathered feedback from all my lovely clients to use on my website and in my posts.

Watch this space! We will be ending 2024 on a high!

How do you keep on track?
