Wet and windy today for many of you, only the far South East escaping the worst today. Weather watch has been updated, link will be in the comments!!!!
Its a lovely day out there if you're a duck or a kite surfer!!!! Wet and windy weather spreading east through the day, drier later but very windy at times, gales/severe gales for the exposed west!!!
Welcome to the British Isles and its "normal weather". Wet, windy and mild!!!!
Hurricane strength gusts for western Ireland on the latest model run. Storm Éowyn is not to be messed with!!!
Despite a mostly dry day wet and windy weather will push in from the west later today. The winds also pick up, becoming very gusty tonight and overnight.
You can see this nicely via our new interactive weather graphics. This feature will be available soon for certain data set but moving forward most data sets will be available.
Some showers around today in places but equally plenty of drier weather too but attention turns to the next system due later today, overnight and into Wednesday morning. Heavy and persistent rain is likely across parts of Wales, the Midlands and southern England. There are already plenty of areas flooded here and further rain is not welcome!!!
Low pressure rapidly develops in the Atlantic over the next couple of days, with strong wind gusts likely along with heavy rain across the weekend. Across the highest routes in the north, a period of snow likely too. A lively weekend to come!!!
Low pressure systems will ride an increasingly strong jetstream later this week and across the weekend, just like a surfer riding a wave. Net result = quite potent lows to developing, further wet and windy weather to come. Link to data to the data in the comments!!
Not bad start for many of you today with a slack flow leading to a dry and bright morning but we do have disturbances out to the west. This will bring rain to some western parts later on today but specially so overnight across central and southern parts of the UK. Not a warm day mind you with values no better than 6c to 11c today.
Don't forget we have quite a lot of data available for you all for free. Take a look at our ARPEGE data below using our portal. Although Ex Hurricane Kirk runs south of the UK, we are still indirectly going to get quite strong winds, especially across the east.

Not every day you see a low pressure system attempt to become a tropical storm in the North Sea!!!! Low pressure close to the coast of Netherlands had a burst of convection close to the centre, as you can see from the video below. It even had a clearance which looks like a developing eye!!! This development has broken down somewhat already but it’s certainly not something you see very often in the North Sea, they are more likely to occur in areas such as the Mediterranean and are classed as Medicanes.
