Today, we are thrilled to announce that Friends of Downe Activity Centre (FoDAC) has officially completed the purchase of Downe Activity Centre from the Scout Association. The keys are in our hands, and the site now belongs to us!

In seven days, it will mark exactly four years since TSA announced the sale of this historic and beloved site. Over these years, we’ve encountered extraordinary people, shared moments of laughter, tears, joy, and celebration—and this is only the beginning! A massive thank you to everyone who has supported us and believed in this. You’ve been the heart of this journey, and we wouldn’t be here without you.

But now, we need your energy and support more than ever! Saturday 9th November will be the first workday of a brand-new era for Downe Activity Centre, and we’re calling on as many of you as possible to roll up your sleeves and join us. There’s plenty to do, and every pair of hands will make a difference. Details for the workday are available on our website here: https://downeactivitycentre.org.uk/community-workday/

No equipment games!

Here's a new game - no equipment needed! It's great for getting scouts to listen and concentrate.

The Fruit Game
Get the scouts in turn to call out the name of a fruit. No duplicates. Once everyone has a fruit tell them that you are going to call out one of the the fruit names at random three times in a row. The scout whose fruit that it is has to call out the name of the fruit before you have done so three times.
Simple but great fun!
If the scout succeeds you continue with another fruit, if they fail they take over the calling out of the fruit names.
Start slowly but speed up once they are getting the hang of the game.
Obviously scouts that have one syllable fruit names are at a bit of a disadvantage over those that have chosen, say, a pomegranate so occasionally let the scouts choose a new fruit if they want to.

This game isn't in "250 No Equipment Games. Written for scouts and guides - played by everyone!" but, er, 250 are - with 4.7 stars on Amazon. So if you need some more games that can be played when all the equipment has been put away then this book is for you!
