Following the Leader of CDC’s post on the Chipping Campden Noticeboard the other evening regarding change of waste collection days, I’ve been inundated with queries. (It’s not helped that the link he gave doesn’t give collection dates as the the collection dates are being updated due to the changes 😳🤔)

This was clearly a blanket post that he (or more likely one of his staff) has fly-posted across the whole district without due consideration to the local relevance.

To clarify, the Campden & Vale Ward is not affected by these changes, as far as I’m aware there are just 13 properties in the whole ward whose collection day will change, these properties will have been contacted directly.

For everyone else the day will remain the same, however, get your bins out early as there’s a possibility that the time of collection may change. Any queries let me know👍

You are in for a treat this Saturday! The stunning Shepherds Close garden will be open to the public with thanks to owner, Rita Down, in memory of her beloved husband, Roger, who was a passionate and talented gardener. 🌸💐🥀🌹🌺🌷🌼🌻

This gorgeous hidden gem, in the heart of the Cotswolds, is 3 acres of beautifully kept and imaginatively planned grounds. And at this time of the year, you’ll see the garden at its best.

Thank you to Rita, who is donating funds raised to Campden Home Nursing.

Enjoy wandering around the garden at your leisure. Refreshments available, provided by Huxleys. 🍰🧁☕ Please note, last entry is 3.30pm

Royal Mail sort out your 💩💩💩!!

For nearly 18 months the Royal Mail sorting office cesspit in Back Ends, Chipping Campden has been leaking onto the Public Highway.

Despite the best efforts and cooperation of the staff at the Sorting Office, to whom I would like to pass on my thanks for their assistance, Royal Mail management have ignored requests by various parties who have contacted them to get this situation resolved.

Back in September, I reported the problem to the ERS team at Cotswold District Council and they visited the sorting office and were given a contact for Royal Mail management who said that a work order had been made with Royal Mail’s property management company.

After a lack of action the ERS team made further contact in February and finally got in touch with the person responsible on the management team at Royal Mail.

They confirmed they were aware of the situation and that the tank was due to be drained and repaired. Royal Mail were given 2 weeks to provide an update before enforcement commenced.

Since then, the ERS team have been unable to contact Royal Mail management so the case has been escalated to a senior ERS manager at CDC.

It’s an absolute disgrace that a company the size of Royal Mail has totally shirked it’s corporate and environmental responsibilities, causing a stink and discharging effluent into the local environment.

Royal Mail it’s time to sort your 💩out 😡

RESURFACING SCHEME - ASTON MAGNA TO BATSFORD
I now have confirmed details for this work. Currently scheduled for 26 March - 9 April. Local residents will be advised of details closer to the date and, as always, work schedules can be subject to change with adverse weather, machine availability etc.
Before everyone asks - I was out two weeks ago onsite with local Highways Manager on the Bourton Woods to Batsford Stud road - some bad potholes should have now been repaired and we are working up some patching schemes.
