Welcome to the new ‘Core’ by Owen Lewis!
Health magazines, gym instructors, and YouTube fitness experts frequently speak of the importance of a ‘strong core’. But while the core may be well-known, it is still poorly understood: there is no universally agreed-upon definition of the core or the muscles it comprises.
‘Core’ makes it easy to understand the anatomy of this crucial region of the body and how it works to manage and transfer the force of movement through the center of the body, building on principles of biotensegrity.
Owen Lewis argues for an approach to improving core function that is flexible, fluid, and adaptable, emphasising functional training and underlying principles over a static list of exercises.
The book culminates in principles for more effective and safe exercises and training regimens with a range of useful, functional training exercises suitable for lay readers but especially helpful as examples for therapists and trainers to use with clients.
‘Core’ is published on March 31st and is available for pre-order now!

Functional Anatomy of Movement - An Illustrated Guide to Joint Movement, Soft Tissue Control, and Myofascial Anatomy’ by James Earls
https://amzn.eu/d/0Je8KnN
RRP £19.99, currently reduced to £14.99 on Amazon
Earls explores the profound effects of understanding fascial tissue interconnectedness―described as anatomy trains, myofascial chains, meridians, or slings―on our anatomical knowledge. He delves into the concept of tensegrity, emphasizing its contribution to our appreciation of the intricacy and interdependence of real-world body movements.
Using up-to-date research, Earls digs into important questions for physical and manual therapists: Which tissues really are contiguous? Does continuity of tissue actually show or demonstrate transmission of force and communication along those lines? And does fascial tissue have to be continuous for the body to actually transfer force?
Accessibly written and fully illustrated, Functional Anatomy of Movement offers practical applications for physical therapists, chiropractors, and bodyworkers, as well as new tools for teachers of yoga and Pilates to develop a deeper understanding of anatomy and movement.

What makes the ‘Trail Guide to Movement’ different to other anatomy movement books?
It takes several approaches to functional anatomy and blends them beautifully to create a book that gives an extraordinarily balanced and well-informed understanding of the body in movement.
👁️ 900 captivating hand drawn illustrations - and not all movement is related simply to sports and walking, but very relatable to everyday life.
🔥 Review questions at the end of each section
💥 Explores bones, fasciae, joints, muscles, and biomechanics in movement
🚨 Starts small and gets bigger; start from scratch to fabricate and assemble the body
💣 Related to YOUR body: roll up your sleeves to understand your knee, your muscles, your gait pattern
The Trail Guide to Movement makes the study of human movement captivating and memorable.
“The text explains seemingly abstract concepts in a way that is visual, relatable, and easy to understand” - Julie Francis, Head Women’s Athletic Trainer, University of North Carolina
Whether you’re a seasoned practitioner or student at the start of your career, we could all do with a set of simple, quick-glance cards to remind us which muscles cause a specific movement, and which are the antagonist muscles of that movement. That simple information is usually the starting point of any successful treatment or training plan.
These glossy, colourful cards look thoroughly at the movements of every single joint in the body (with illustrations of each movement for extra clarity). Slide out the cards you need and keep them to hand when you need a prompt; you can easily have them out in clinic whereas it’s much more difficult to refer to a book on-the-go. Stick them on the wall and digest the info as you go about your day. These are a much more efficient way to refresh fundamental knowledge without fuss and complication. Wham, bam!
So popular they are currently sold out but you can pre-order now and we’ll let you know as soon as the next stock drops. Other anatomy texts go in and out of popularity but the Trail Guide has prevailed. It’s obvious why! 🤓 📚 🧠 🌟
