UPDATE FROM DERBYSHIRE POLICE:

"We’re not providing exact times or locations of planned protests.

We are fully aware of information circulating online about planned protests on Wednesday.

Since the incidents that were seen elsewhere in the country, we have put in place a full operational and resourcing plan which is being led by our Assistant Chief Constable Michelle Shooter.

We are continuing to communicate with our local communities and ensure that we understand their concerns – and they understand the policing ability to keep them safe.

We will continue to monitor the information about any events planned in the county and review our policing plans in line with any new information".

We’re receiving reports of an alleged protest taking place in Chesterfield this afternoon, we are trying to contact Derbyshire Police for any information but in the meantime please stay vigilant and stay safe.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused inaccurate post (below) in which we stated Chesterfield and Sheffield were already confirmed as closing. We have to state that both sites are presently at risk and not confirmed as closing.

We apologise for any upset this may have caused.

Cinema chain Cineworld have announced 25 venues to close, with Chesterfield and Sheffield being among the 25 at risk. Potentially leaving Chesterfield once again without a cinema.

Sad news for movie lovers.

Cineworld to close 25 cinema sites in restructuring plan: list of locations at risk - It is understood that the number of jobs lost as a result of the closures would be ‘at least in the hundreds’

| A further 32 properties are being evacuated in connection with a house search on Kingsley Avenue in Chesterfield.

The search was conducted following an assault that took place on Derby Road at around 12.25am on Friday 19 July. A number of suspicious items were found which resulted in the cordon being put in place for the safety of people in the immediate area.

A man remains in custody in connection with the assault.

Kingsley Avenue is closed from the junction with Church Street South to the junction with Burns Road.

A rest centre at Queen’s Park Leisure Centre has been set up for those evacuated and residents will be informed by officers as and when they can return to their properties.

At this time there is no indication as to how long the evacuation and cordon will be in place. We will update our channels as soon as further information is available.

We’ve just received a message from Jean who advises us that 4 ambulances have gone speeding down Hasland bypass with a 5th headed the same way through Bramley Vale. We’ve not been made aware of any incident as yet but if anyone knows what’s happening and where please let us know so we can keep everyone informed.
