Yesterday, may have been a very soaking wet welcome to 2025, but I was glad to be able to see the East Anglian Railway Museum help kick off UK Railway's big 200th anniversary with the rest of the big Heritage Railways, at the 12 noon Whistle Off. Let the celebrations commence!

One final extra of the season. A brief day flyby visit to the Bluebell Railway in October, to capture guest loco Sir Nigel Gresley in fine form, at two new lineside locations. Only two shot chances, but well worth the effort.

Today's throwback Thursday is a more recent video taken at the Great Central Railway during their 2024 Railways at Work event. A fantastic 1960s period recreation of protesters to the then Dr. Beeching cuts to the railways. The video on the youtube channel is the colour original, but unique to this page, I couldn't resist turning it into black and white.
