Anyone u p for an outdoor concert - right here in the middle of our lovely town? :-)

Following its success in recent years, Stone Town Council are again organising a free music event in the town on Saturday, 14th July 2018.
With the help of volunteer Tony Hollinshead a full programme of entertainment has been arranged between 11:00am and 9:00pm, including:

Councillor Jill Hood, Vice-Chairman of the Council’s Tourism and Town Promotion Sub-Committee said: “The Stone Music Festival is free, and showcases a wide variety of the town’s abundant musical talent. Don’t miss what promises to be a fantastic time on Saturday July 14th, beginning at 11:00am! Volunteering in the spotlight at Stone Community Hub event

Charities and community groups in and around Stone who are looking for new volunteers have been urged to attend a special event in the town.
Stone Community Hub is hosting the event on Friday 1st June, the first day of this year’s national Volunteers’ Week.
Not-for-profit groups can showcase their organisation and promote volunteer vacancies. Members of the public who are interested in giving something back to their community will be able to find out more about the volunteering opportunities that are available in Stone and surrounding villages.
Stone Community Hub manager Karen Wardell said: “Volunteers’ Week is all about celebrating the incredible contribution that volunteers make to their communities.
“We have lots of organisations in and around Stone who rely on volunteers to deliver their vital community services, and I’m sure there are lots of people in the town who would like to get involved as a volunteer. Our event is designed to bring them together, as well as providing a fantastic networking opportunity for groups in the town.”
The volunteering event will be held in the Frank Jordan Centre in Lichfield Street, Stone, on Friday 1st June from 5pm to 7pm.
Charities and other not-for-profit groups in and around Stone should email [email protected] or call 01785 812417 to book their place as soon as possible.
Any groups who can’t be there on the day but want to be involved can create a poster about their organisation and what volunteers they need. These will all be displayed at the event.

Fancy getting patriotic to celebrate St George's Day?

Stone Town Council is celebrating Saint George’s Day by bringing medieval knights into the town on Saturday 21st April 2018.
The event will start at 12:00pm when Saint George will lead the parade on horseback from the top of the High Street to the Market Square. Once in the Market Square, the Black Knights will fight Saint George and his men in front of the assembled crowd.
There will be an opportunity to experience wearing medieval armour and a children’s medieval fancy dress competition themed on knights, damsels and dragons.
In addition to the event there will also be a craft market at the lower end of the High Street and the usual town market at the upper end.
Councillor Jill Hood, Vice Chairman of the Council’s Tourism and Town Promotion Sub-Committee, said: “Come along to the Market Square and cheer on your favourites in the battle between Saint George and the Black Knights”.
