If you have a post office in your village these days, you're very lucky. We're certainly fortunate to have Cerian and Joel running our local PO in Rhoose.

This family-run business is many things to locals: a greengrocer, a fruiterer, a stationer, and, possibly it’s most important role, a Post Office. It’s also a mini garden centre, especially this time of year, with gorgeous displays adorning the frontage. They certainly do lift the spirits. Joel ...

Walking into town this morning. Smelling the roses in Pontcanna - beautiful. Across the bridge, around the city centre into Morgan Arcade and ended up at The Cardiff Townhouse, for a cuppa with sourdough toast and jam (with lots of butter). The bells rang out from St John's while we sat. Some lovely souls about - some weird, some wonderful. You simply can't beat a sunny Sunday morning in the capital. Back past the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama. The entrance to Bute Park was filled with the sound of a student practicing violin (and doing a pretty decent job if it). Through the park, across the weir and around Llandaff Fields.

Fontygary beach. Eyelash fossil. I'm guessing pre-Botox, 200 to 250 million years old maybe.

Late morning walk through Pontcanna and into the city centre with the dog. Popped into The Cardiff Townhouse, Coppa Club for a cuppa (glass of wine) and a Coppa Hot pizza. Have to say, it was excellent. Then a lovely walk back through Bute Park. There was a lovely vibe in Cardiff today. Centre was really busy. So me great buskers about and the sun just made The Hayes a really cool place to be. Cardiff at its best.

Welsh Life

We launched Welsh Life Magazine many moons ago. We are passionate about our beautiful country and the people living and working in it. We are champions of local, independent businesses in Wales. It’s no secret we’re no fans of chains and supermarkets. We believe the individual character of any country, county, village, town or city comes from within, not a conglomeration of ‘brands’ that have been cloned around the country. We're not a franchise either - how rude to even suggest it! - we’re a home grown, family-owned, compact and bijou publishing company. We aim to spend at least 95% of our turnover back into the Welsh economy. To date we have surpassed this target every year. Wales is a beautiful country and we want to ensure it stays that way, both culturally, spiritually and environmentally.
