🍂 With colder weather arriving, it’s a good time to look after your ears - they’re more sensitive to the elements than many people realise, especially in Cumbria’s chilly conditions. Wendy Brown Ear Care is sharing some helpful tips to stay comfortable and protected this season:
1️⃣ Keep ears warm
Cold air can tighten the small muscles and blood vessels around the ears, often causing discomfort or increased sensitivity. Hats, ear muffs, or headbands can make a big difference when you’re outdoors.
2️⃣ Avoid moisture
Rain, snow, and even longer showers can leave moisture trapped in the ear canal. This increases the chance of infection, particularly for anyone prone to wax build-up.
3️⃣ Be aware of blocked ears
Cooler temperatures can make ear wax thicker, making it harder for it to clear naturally. This may lead to muffled hearing, pressure, discomfort or ringing.
If these symptoms sound familiar, a professional check-up could help.
Wendy Brown Ear Care uses the advanced Tympa system to provide clear images of the ear canal (which clients can view themselves) and offers gentle, safe microsuction when wax removal is needed.
🍂 Stay warm, dry, and clear this Autumn and Winter.
Wendy runs clinics in Carlisle, Wigton, Brampton, Wreay (near J42 of the M6) and Penrith, with same-day appointments often available.
