Going live In a Few for a Church service
Waiting For Things to Change
‘Turn back and do as you did at first.’ Revelation 2:5 CEV
Addressing the Ephesian church, Jesus said: ‘I know everything you have done, including your hard work and how you have endured. I know you won’t put up with anyone who is evil… You have endured and gone through hard times because of Me, and… not given up. But I do have something against you! And it is this: You don’t have as much love as you used to. Think about where you have fallen from… then turn back and do as you did at first.’ (Revelation 2:2–5 CEV)
Think back to your early days as a Christian. Remember how excited you got when you talked about the Lord. Remember how you spent time each day in prayer, and left His presence strengthened. You couldn’t get enough of His Word. It was filled with fresh insights that thrilled your soul and challenged you to go deeper with Him. You never missed an opportunity to talk to others about the Lord. Your walk with Him was consistent, fulfilling, and the pivotal point of your life.
What happened? Have you reached the same point in your life as the Ephesian Christians Jesus was speaking to? If so, understand that God won’t interrupt your busy schedule or accelerate His pace to catch up with you. No, you must slow down in order to get back in step with Him. He can’t be conveniently fitted into the framework of your complicated life; you must choose to put Him first, and keep Him there.
Today the Lord may be speaking these words to you: ‘Think about where you have fallen from… then turn back and do as you did at first.’

Have You Stumbled?
‘You will all stumble in your faith on account of Me.’ Matthew 26:31 NCV
On the night before His death, Jesus made this announcement: ‘All of you will be made to stumble because of Me this night, for it is written: “I will strike the Shepherd, and the… flock will be scattered.” But after I have been raised, I will go before you to Galilee.’ (Matthew 26:31–32 NKJV) Think about it! If the disciples who had spent three-and-a-half years walking and talking with Jesus, hearing His messages and seeing His miracles could stumble, then any of us can. ‘You will all stumble.’
But the promise was lost on Peter. ‘Even if all are made to stumble because of You, I will never be made to stumble.’ (Matthew 26:33 NKJV) This was not one of Peter’s finer moments. ‘Even if all…’ Arrogant. ‘I will never be made to stumble.’ Self-sufficient. Peter’s trust was in Peter’s strength. Yet Peter’s strength would peter out. Jesus knew it: ‘Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.’ (Luke 22:31–32 NKJV)
Satan would attack and test Peter. But Satan would never claim him. Why? Because Peter was strong? No—because Jesus was. ‘I have prayed for you.’ And here’s a wonderful truth—Jesus prays for you too: ‘Father, You have given Me Your name; now protect them by the power of Your name… I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in Me.’ (John 17:11, 20 NLT)
Will God answer Christ’s prayer on your behalf? What do you think? Of course He will!
God Will Keep His Word To You
‘I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass.’ Isaiah 46:11 KJV
Friends may fail to keep their promise to you, but not God! He has put His reputation on the line by promising to perform every word that He’s spoken. ‘You have magnified Your word above all Your name.’ (Psalm 138:2 NKJV) If God has spoken it, He will do it! But there’s one qualifier: if He’s decreed a condition, you must fulfil it in order to receive His promise.
After Elijah’s confrontation with Baal’s prophets on Mount Carmel, he told King Ahab, ‘Go, eat and drink, for there is the sound of a heavy rain.’ (1 Kings 18:41 NIV) Ahab ate and drank, and Elijah, atop Carmel, fell on his face in prayer. It hadn’t rained in three and a half years, but Elijah fulfilled God’s condition and the desperately needed rains came.
Often we claim God’s promises without checking the conditions. Yet His conditions are an integral part of many of His promises—and He expects us to fulfil them. God will do what He says if you follow the simple steps Elijah practised: (1) Believe the promise. (2) Fulfil the condition. (3) Pray persistently, believing God will keep His Word. (4) Be patient.
Elijah sent his servant out seven times to look for signs of rain, never once doubting God’s promise. On the seventh time the rains began. Question: are you being obedient to the conditions that accompany the promise you’re claiming? Do your part and watch God honour His word to you: ‘I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I will also do it.’
“A woman, she is born with the power to save and love, her existence is based on the truthfulness in her eyes.”
