Yo No Se - Sleeper Awakes - Malthouse Session
We had a right raucous evening yesterday at the YO NO SE single launch at the The Crofters Rights! Our fav progressive grunge band churned out a storming set whilst churning up our insides with their roaring psych rock sounds.
Their 7" single The Sleeper Awakes/Temple Kiss is out this Friday on Greenway Records. Check out the session we filmed for them last year at the Malthouse Recording Studios.
Womanby Street
Following on from news of hotels, apartments and noise complaints, we just wanted to say a few things about Womanby Street.
Womanby Street isn’t just a street. It’s a cultural hub, multi-purpose venue and the home for many different scenes in Wales. If we don’t have Womanby Street, is there a future for Welsh music? On a much grander scale, where will the next generation of massive acts cut their teeth?
The UK is known for massive musical acts (Adele, Coldplay, Arctic Monkeys to name but a few) all of whom started out in small venues in Cardiff and the rest of UK. If we keep building hotels and flats next to independent venues and their inhabitants keep complaining about noise, we won’t have any more independent venues. Therefore no more places for these massive acts to learn their craft!
This short clip from a doc we made about Swn Festival last year sums up Womanby Street’s importance and the importance of the Womanby Streets in every town and city in UK.… Dempsey’s features in the clip and is now gone. Where next?
FUEL ROCK CLUB is now under threat due to noise complaints from nearby flats. With the latest news that someone is seeking planning permission for apartments next to Clwb Ifor Bach, there is a serious chance we could lose Womanby Street as we now know it.
Please take a minute to watch, like, share and contact your local councillor! Also like the Save Womanby Street page, link below.
