Sorry, I'm busy 💁🏼‍♀️🔮

All of the things I've listed here are things that bring me so much joy- that fill me with a true sense of happiness, belonging, and purpose.

I'm sure most of you can resonate with at least one of these slides.

The powers of liminality, rituals in the woods, drumming and singing at stone circles, uncovering the hidden history of Wales, communicating with the spirits of the land, singing to the waters... What a wonderful life it is.

🔮 We will never get to live this specific life again, so if you re lucky enough to be on a magical and mystical path, be grateful for it. Even when it's hard.

We are truly blessed 🩷🌀

Lessons from the Liminal 👇🏼

Liminality and liminal magic has taught me so much over the last few years. If there's one thing that consistently comforts me and inspires me, it's the liminal world.

🔮 As a self-proclaimed Liminal Witch, I work within these spaces constantly, researching and delving into the mysteries of the concept and transmuting and alchemizing what I learn.

I apply the lessons of liminality into my every day life, and so can you. These are just some of many lessons that the liminal lens has taught me.

If you're a witch, shaman, druid, priestess, or any kind of cunning folk and you want to learn more about liminality, then you've come to the right place. Stick with me, and I'll help you on that journey 🙏🏼

Continuing on from yesterday ⤵️

I really just want to hammer home the difference between the internet aesthetic of liminal spaces and what liminal spaces actually are.

🔮 Liminality shouldn't be feared, it should be embraced. Because ultimately, liminality is change (more on this over the next few days!)

When we embrace the liminal, we embrace our full potential.

It's fine to enjoy the internet aesthetic and the Backrooms and everything else, but when you do so and consciously miss the point of what liminality is, then it's a problem.

🌀 Understand it at its base level, and watch how much more sense everything makes

🌀 Understand it at its base level, and you'll always be able to identify a liminal space, without the help of anyone else.

🌀 Understand it at its base level, and you will be more connected to these spaces and yourself.

We are all connected ⤵️

Heaven and earth, spirits and fairies- regardless of what you believe, liminality is a universal concept that translates to many different religions and creeds.

🌀 The Ancient Celts & Celtic Christians knew the power of liminality and thin places, seeing them as portals between the earthly and heavenly realms.

🔮 As witches, we see these liminal spaces as places where the veil between worlds is at its thinnest, where we can connect to powerful energies, spirits, creatures and everything in between.

It doesn't matter what you call it, liminality is always there.
Intrinsically linked to humanity.

Liminality is something we should all look into and meditate on, something we can tap in to, regardless of our personal beliefs.

Liminality is everywhere ⤵️

Even within pantheons of powerful gods.

🌀 Hecate, Persephone, Cerridwen, Enoida, Brigid... What do all of these deities have in common?

They exist between worlds and between states, having deep connections to boundaries, thresholds, and transformation. The very essence of liminality itself.

And it doesn't just stop at the deities I've mentioned in this list.
It goes on and on across ALL cultures.

🔮 If you want to work with Liminal Magic & Witchcraft and you want to work with deities who fit in with the concept, this list will help you get started.

You can honour these deities within their domain, within the sacred groves, the riverbanks, the crossroads, the sacred sites- the liminal spaces where energy is at its most potent.

💫 What other deities would you consider to be liminal? Remember, liminality is all about borders, transition, thresholds, boundaries, the in-between, so use the definition to help you work out which ones would be considered to be liminal.

Not all liminal spaces are physical ⤵️

They aren't all empty rooms, stairwells, bridges, places you can touch and see. Some examples of liminal space exist within the mind, or during periods of our lives.

🔮 Perfect examples of 'non-physical' liminal space include teenagehood/puberty, grief, menopause, pregnancy, the act of travel, pilgrimage, and illness.

As long as the space is a haven of change, transitional, a border or threshold, then it is a liminal space. It is important to work outside, or even between the box when it comes to finding these thin places.

🌀 Looking at the above examples, try and think back if you have experienced any of them. What weird, or unexplained phenomena did you experience during these times?

Liminal magic is incredibly potent and these spaces are full of an intense magic that can be harnessed in your rituals and ceremonies. When we go on a liminal journey, we alchemize ourselves in ways we can't even imagine.

Liminal spaces are where we grow ⤵️

Change is something that goes hand-in-hand with liminality. When you commit yourself to liminal magic, you commit yourself to change, to transition, to occupying the spaces in-between other spaces.

🔮 Without fully committing to the idea of change, you cannot fully alchemize the power of these spaces.

Change doesn't have to be earth shattering or scary every single time. Start with the small things. Break the smaller habits.

As you embrace liminality and change more, they become easier and easier to adapt to.

🌱 It is only within these liminal spaces that we can evolve and grow, and become better versions of ourselves. The same can be said about liminality in a magical sense.

To harness and alchemise the power of liminal spaces, you have to open yourself up to becoming a liminal vessel. A being of in-between states, of change and metamorphosis.

And this can be achieved. It is better to move at a snails pace than to stay completely still. There's no right or wrong way to move forward... Just keep up the momentum.

🔮 Liminality asks us to strip the layers back and ask the tough questions. To take what we know and throw it up in the air to see what we catch when it falls back down. To transmute every lesson and experience until we can make something coherent, concrete, and something that will change us for the better.

'Liminal spaces have existed throughout human history. They come in many different forms, both natural and man-made, some are temporary, some are more permanent. But two things they all have in common is of course their potent energy and how they fit into the above definition.

When you first delve into the mysterious and tumultuous world of liminality, defining these thin places for yourself can seem like a challenge, and it can get a bit confusing, but once you keep the above definition in mind, you’ll soon see that these spaces exist everywhere.

I am a witch, and liminality is a huge part of my practice. I utilize these spaces within my practice, and I hope that this list will inspire and encourage you to do the same.'

Liminality is everywhere ⤵️

In every story, every fable, every nook and cranny of folklore and mythology, and as I have been delving deeper into both Welsh folklore and liminality, I have found a plethora of examples.

🌊 After my lecture in the Bewitching The Waters Symposium, where I told the story of the Lady of Llyn Y Fan Fach and another about the Ceffyl Dŵr (water horses), I felt inspired to deliver a few more examples of liminality within Welsh folklore

There are multiple other examples within tales of magic, giants, mythical creatures, and concepts, but let's start with these

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Remember, liminality is all about boundaries, thresholds, gateways, transition, and change. Apply this definition when you go looking for your own examples.

And this applies to ALL folklore and mythology across the world!

If you have found yourself here, the journey is calling you ⤵️

Over the last 3 years, my magical path has called me to work more intensely with the liminal. My spiritual path has always felt a bit all over the place until I found liminality. Now I am where I'm supposed to be.

🔮 As witches, cunning folk, priestesses, wizards, we ALL work with liminal spaces and liminality. But often, it's on a subconscious level.

Liminal magic is all about working with these spaces intentionally, at the front and center of your practice, on an incredibly conscious level.

🌕 A huge part of the journey is studying liminality to truly understand it and going out and finding these liminal spaces for yourself.

Liminality and liminal magic goes far beyond the creepypasta of the Backrooms or an empty room that has weird energy. This is just scratching the surface.

🔸 Liminal magic has taught me so much, and my mission now is to share with others it's magic and teach those who want to embrace and work with it.

I seem to be in a perpetual state of liminality at the moment.

Always in a cycle of change and transition. I've always struggled with embracing change- I am a creature of comfort for sure. But over the last few years, I've made a conscious effort to react more positively towards change.

✨ When you work so intensely with the liminal, there is no other option ✨

But that doesn't mean that it isn't tiring sometimes. On occasion, my old reactions to change do surface, and this can affect my magic and work.

💜 But healing and negative patterns take years to break and remold. This is such an important thing to remember.

As witches, embracing the liminal, working with it, and accepting change and transition is essential for our power. We can't unlock our full potential without working WITH it rather than against it.

🙏🏼 But always give yourself a break if this is a habit and cycle you are just trying to break. You're allowed off days, you're allowed to make mistakes and fumble in the dark.

It's how you pick yourself up afterwards that is key.

✨ I'm feeling slightly melancholy today, struggling to find the right words, so all I can say to you right now is go easy on yourself on your healing journey.

Allow room for mistakes.
Embrace change.
Harness the power of liminality.
Remember, we are only human.

🔮 A powerful witch is one who recognises the bad habits and alchemizes them. A powerful witch is one who knows not everything can be 'Love & Light', the dark is just as essential.
