I’ve got something a bit special for you this week on Rambling Folk. I’ll be bringing you music from Andrew J Newalls new album ‘My Lucky Charm’ and chatting with Andrew about how he came up with the idea of taking the stories his mother had told him of his family's history, and turning them into a radio play.

Genticorum play the Tolbooth Stirling on Thursday 25th July so I’ll bring you something from them. We'll also ‘Pause For A Poem’ with Caroline Burrows VerseCycle who is performing at the 'Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival' this Thursday.

Rambling Folk returns this weekend with a very busy show. There will be not one but two featured artists.

In the first hour I’ll be speaking to Mark Neal Music from Helensburgh and playing music from his newly released CD ‘Cool Waters’

In the second hour I’ll be speaking to William Hershaw and his son David about William’s new album Leid. William Hershaw and the Leid are playing Stirling Folk Club on Monday night.

On this week’s Rambling Folk I’m going to be bringing you new releases from artists that come from both near and far. Local artists Miller & O'Neill have just released a single from their upcoming EP called Avalon Dreams. I’ll be bringing you that plus new releases from American singer / songwriter Mark Rogers Cornish Folk singer Elizabeth Freeborn and Vancouver based acoustic folk group The Fugitives.

There will also be music from the likes of The McCalmans, Robb Johnson (Official), Calum Campbell Musicl , The Deadly Winters, and Anna Massie

I’m also delighted to have Indian Poet Madhu Raghavendra on the show this week. Madhu is currently on a residential poet exchange at Stirling University. We’ll “Pause For A Poem” with him in the second hour of the show.

I’m delighted to say that the featured artist on this week’s Rambling Folk is one of the icons of the folk scene here in Scotland. It’s Kris Drever.

I’ll be having a chat with him about a variety of things including his solo work, plans for a new album and his current tour which brings him to the Tolbooth Stirling this coming Wednesday night.

Plus there will be music from artists such as: DC Thomas, Siobhan Miller, Calum Alex Macmillan, Journey North, Stornoway, Kinnaber Junction, Rhuari "slow for a poet" Campbell and Jim Thornton.

We’ll also ‘Pause For A Poem’ with VerseCycle (Caroline Burrows) and have something from Allan Taylor before he comes to play at Stirling Folk Club on Monday Night

Brooklyn’s 18 year old Banjoist/Vocalist Nora Brown Banjo and award winning Fiddle player Stephanie Coleman are my featured artists on this weeks Rambling Folk. Currently on a tour of Ireland and the UK they are coming to play at the Tolbooth Stirling on Tuesday 28th May. I had a wee chat with them last month while they were still at home in Brooklyn preparing for their tour. I’ll bring you that chat along with music from their new EP ‘Lady of the Lake.’
