As the Foo Fighters take to stages across the UK, here’s a revisit to our explosive animated music video for 'No Son of Mine'.
Blending live-action footage with dynamic CGI animation, we crafted a sketch-book style story that’s fast-paced, high contrast, and an adrenaline shot straight to the heart 💥

Bomper collaborates with Black Lab Films to create Furniture Village’s ‘Christmas is All Wrapped Up’ campaign; with a cosy spot on the ITV and Sky networks.
Crafting idents of varying lengths, Bomper Studio was brought in to recreate the festive wrapping elements in CG which seamlessly blended with the live-action.

‘Laundry Day’ – a snapshot tale of love, loss, and laundry - directed by Lead Animator Bianca Iancu, as part of our new internal talent development programme in nurturing tomorrow's filmmakers at the studio.
Wanting to explore Unreal Engine with Blender as part of the studios pipeline and upskilling the wider team, Bomper opened the floor for ideas to be pitched forward as part of the development. The atmospheric film explores the intersection of technology and humanity in an inner-city laundromat 🤖
It's been great to see our team realise their ideas through experimenting with animation software and technology and we’re super excited about what else will come out of our programme.

Bomper has partnered with Taxi Studio in crafting a more premium-yet-playful look and feel for Celebrations. The work was produced as part of the repositioning of the confectionary staple as the go-to for commemorating year-round special moments, while inviting a younger-tech savvy audience to the party.

DAY 1:
🕹 The GDC expo officially opened for the first day, and Bomper exhibited on The Welsh Pavilion (S248). We spent the day catching up with a wide range of incredible companies and individuals in the content and games space.
📲 Unreal Engine 5's MetaHuman revealed and demonstrated a new update called Animator which allows you to create new fully animated facial models in real time with just a phone camera. The raw data was neither touched nor polished, yet almost 85% finished animation. Truly impressive!
💡 We caught up with some exciting companies in the cinematics and MoCap community at two evening events across San Francisco. There was so much shared-learning, with great company.

Guillermo's success at the Oscars is a great recognition of the artistry and technical skill required to create such works. Certainly more to be done to increase visibility of the animation industry, but hopefully this accolade will lead to more investment and growth opportunities for the sector 🙌

Volvo Cars in-house team provided the final live-action inspired hyperreal renders of the EX90 vehicle using Unreal Engine 5, which our team then composited sphere motion design onto the visuals, using a combination of Cinema4D and After Effects. The final result being visuals that strike the perfect balance between reality and the imagination.

Hollow Pixel Academy are looking for 6 apprentices (level 4 and 5) to join them to have intensive Blender animation, software and pipeline training, working in 2d and 3d.
The apprenticeship is mainly remote but with some workshops at the studio in Cardiff and in Gower College.
At the end there is an opportunity for a 2 month paid Internship at here at Bomper!

🙌 4 DAY WORKING WEEK IS STAYING 🙌
In 2014, we set out to create a place where talented individuals are empowered to do their best work with very little in their way. Naturally, this meant designing a place with a better work-life balance for our team.
Now, we’re pleased to say that after a successful trial, which has not only allowed us to maintain our high quality output but also a healthy balance for our incredible team, Bomper’s 4 day working week is here to stay!
Our team now gets an extra day to relax, with more time for their hobbies or to spend with loved ones, to recharge and to ultimately focus on their well-being.
Here’s to 2023 and being a part of the movement to make a stand about what the future of work looks like!💪
Another short animation for EverMerge! 💫 This time, everyones waiting on Little Red Riding Hood.
For this one, the storyboard provided by Big Fish was crying out for this to be handled in one shot, so that’s exactly how we approached this one! This was achieved by rendering multiple passes using the windows on the house as a mask.
For the animation, the team looked to add in as much gestural expression as possible in the body movements; really playing into the comedic scenarios in the boards.
All animation was done in Maya, while Blender and Evee were used for the scenes and rendering.
