Philip is one of the best-known composers in the band scene, with an extensive catalogue for Concert, Brass, and fanfare bands, ensembles and also educational works from his label Anglo Music Press.

Happy birthday to our band composers Bert Appermont and Wim Laseroms! 👑👑

Bert recently has his piece from our Beriato label, A Brussels Requiem, used for the 2024 Brass Band Spring Festival having also been used for the 2018 British Open at the Symphony Hall in Birmingham.

Wim, who hails from the Netherlands, has created a fantastic catalogue for Concert Band, Brass Band, and Fanfare Band, under our Scherzando label. Wim is still an active jury member for band contests and examiner for national organisations.

Nigel Kennedy may well have a reputation as something of an enfant terrible, but few artists have done more to break down barriers and diversify classical music over the last 35 years. His smash hit album of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons in 1989 dragged it kicking and screaming into the popular spotlight, whilst an irreverence towards elitism challenged the public’s perception of classical music as inaccessible. With the release of his book Songs My Mother Never Taught Me published by Chester Music, Kennedy sat down with Musicroom to talk about football, Polish beer, and the power of sheet music.
