Reminder: the next session in the AidEx and Development2030 webinar series takes place tomorrow (Tuesday 20th July) at 2pm (UK time). The topic for this discussion is:

Solutions to the plastic problem - Exploring the role of social enterprises, circular economies and digital technology

'Plastic pollution disproportionately affects marginalised communities and communities living in close proximity to plastic production and waste sites, constituting an environmental injustice', according to a new report by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and environmental justice non-governmental organisation, Azul.

But solutions are emerging. This webinar will highlight work being done by a number of organisations looking to create value from this 'resource'. They will examine the key motivations in developing bottom-up approaches, the challenges and issues faced when looking to develop such social enterprises, the considerations when creating a circular plastics economy, the role and potential of digital technology and the wider implications and applications of taking them to scale.

Issues caused by plastic pollution disproportionately impact the Global South, both at a social and environmental level; but solutions are emerging.
