Don’t get hacked. 🛑 Protect your Instagram account with two-factor authentication (2FA).

I’ve seen two accounts today that have been hacked. Don’t let it happen to you.

2FA adds an extra layer of security to make it harder for attackers to gain access to your account.

It takes seconds to set up… here’s what to do:

👉 Go to your profile and tap the menu (three lines in the top right hand corner)
👉 Click settings and privacy
👉 Click Accounts Centre
👉 Click Password and Security
👉 Click Two-Factor Authentication
👉 Click on your accounts to add 2FA and follow the instructions.

Make sure your 2FA is turned on. Do it now!

💬 If you want to get seen - start the conversation. Here's why 👇

Being social on social media is one element that many businesses forget to do.

We're busy creating and sharing content but we must remember to proactively engage - that's going out and starting conversations within your niche and with your ideal customers.

This is where you start building awareness of you and your business.

As time goes on as you continue engaging and getting to know others, imparting your expertise, using words that resonates, showcasing your products/services, you'll be increasing your follower count, building relationships, gaining your audiences trust and making sales.

If you want to be seen above the noise at Christmas (sorry, there's the C-word again) then start getting social today. It's crucial.

Who are you going to start engaging with first? Let me know 👇

🎅🏻 Don't scroll past just because I've mentioned that dreaded C word in July... the festive season really isn't that far away.

School holidays are upon us and in a blink they'll be over and we'll be heading into autumn, Halloween and Christmas....

As a small business or theatre there's no time like the present 😆 to kick start your Christmas plans.

Here are three things to get you started today:

1.) What are your Christmas plans?

Will you have a lovely festive product range? Do you want to tell everyone you’ll be at a Christmas market? Will you be promoting your Christmas show or panto? Are you launching a new product/service in 2025?

Get a clear idea of what you will be promoting and selling.

2.) Make your list... and check it twice!

Now you need to write a list of social goals based on the above. Do you want to raise awareness of your business? Increase engagement? Sell products or tickets? Promote an event? Drive traffic to your website?

December is an incredibly busy time for not only businesses and theatres but for your customers too. Everyone is busy preparing for Christmas, their social feeds are inundated of festive gift ideas and events and you want to make sure your business is on those feeds.

Be clear about your goals.

3.) Create Christmas Content

Now you have your products/services and goals it's time to start creating authentic content around these. Get those photos taken or booked in with a photographer, create festive imagery, write the captions and start the story telling. You want your messaging to stand out from the crowd and resonate with your busy and possibly stressed customers!

Spend time putting some thoughts down. Look at last year's content to see what worked well and build on that. Create a mood board to help the inspiration flow.

This is just a starting point. There’s more to come!

Save this post as a reminder to start getting Christmas content wrapped up.

⏰ We all say we're short on time...

But if you've got a spare hour for Instagram and you're really focussed you can really get a lot done!

If you spend 10 minutes on each of these six tasks you'll not only start to see your account grow but you'll meet your people and grow a community.

Give it a try!

Remember to save for later.

⭐Need content inspiration this month?

I've got a list of awareness days here that will keep your ideas flowing.

There's a lot of sport happening this month as well as other days to get behind such as World Chocolate Day (I think I can support that one!), International Self Care Day and Buckinghamshire Day - a day chosen to commemorate the first ever Stoke Mandeville Games (the birth place of The Paralympics) in 1948.

Take a look!

Remember to only pepper your content with these and not rely on them all the time for exposure.

Make sure you save this for when you need it.

🚀 Use this to boost your story views.

Instagram loves it when people use the Add Yours sticker in their story, as it will show these to more followers helping to maximise views.

Find the Add Yours sticker along with all the other engagement stickers under the sticker tab in Stories.

Here you can start your own prompt by either writing a new one or choosing from the selection that Instagram provides.

If none of these take your fancy, take a quick look through your stories and jump on the Add Yours that are popular with those you follow.

I’ve added a couple to my stories, why not start there?

Like this post if you give it a try!

Short on inspiration for your social media this month?

Here are some awareness days which might spark some ideas.

🌸 If you're a gardener or garden centre, there are quite a few days for you this month - World Naked Gardening Day, National Garden Wildlife Week, World Bee Day plus the Chelsea Flower Show. Lots of dates there that you could tie in with your content.

🍰 Cake maker or bakery? How about using World Baking Day or National Doughnut Week as inspiration?

🍹 Or if you are a bar or restaurant you could piggy back your posts on World Cocktail Day and English Wine Week.

Just make sure that the awareness days you choose to use in your content is relevant to your message and your business.

Have fun with these. Save for your monthly does of inspiration!

👀 There's other metrics to focus on.

Focus on your engagement rate - such as post likes, comments, views and reshares.

These metrics tell you how well your content resonates with your audience and how engaged they are.

Having a large number of followers might seem impressive but are you getting high engagement rates? Are you making sales?

Wouldn't it be better to have a smaller more engaged audience who are loving your content and buying your products and services?

Bigger follower numbers isn't always better!

👉A little reminder about links.

The only link that works on Instagram is the one in your bio.

Links in your captions and comments do not work - so stop putting them in there!

To keep it simple, start directing your audience to the link in your bio.

You can now add up to five links here now, which gives you an opportunity to share more information about your and your service or product.

Double tap this post if you're going to stop putting links in your captions!

💡 Save this post for content ideas!

Coming up with fresh and exciting social media content can be quite a challenge, particularly when you’re running your own business and social media isn’t always your main focus!

Here are five places to look for content that your customers are talking about.

But with it being the bank holiday, sometimes the best way to get great content ideas is just switching off. Go for a walk, relax and have fun with your family and put your phone down. You’ll be amazed what you’ll come up with!

🎭 To celebrate World Theatre Day...

I am giving away one FREE social media audit (usually £150) and a further two audits at half price to an independent theatre, theatre company or theatre school.

I will look at one platform (Instagram or Facebook) to see what is working well and not so well. I'll also take a little look at your competitors and also provide you with recommendations that are quick and easy to action.

There's only one free audit available so be quick and DM me the word 'theatre' and I will be in touch with further details.

Happy World Theatre Day!

🤔 Do you know your audience?

As a small business or theatre company, you know what products or services you offer... right? But if you don't know who your audience is, how are you going to tell them about your new brunch menu, dance class or performance?

Without this vital piece of information you can't curate the right messaging that's going to reach, engage and excite your customers and, most importantly, make sales.

Remember... 'Everyone' is not your audience.

Ask yourself the questions in the post. If you can't answer them or need help getting started, please DM me.

❌Check that you're not using them.

Hashtags are incredibly useful to be found for certain topics, but if you're using banned hashtags you won't be found at all.

Banned hashtags are hashtags that people have used on content that goes against Instagram Community Guidelines.

There's a huge range - I've mentioned twelve in the post, but there are more!

I've also given you a little tip about how to check whether you are using banned hashtags, so go and take a look.

Don't forget we have one more day to fill this month - it's a leap year!

❤️ Valentine's Day is just around the corner.

If you're not already, it's time to start shouting on your socials about your Valentine's gifts, products, menus and more.

Stuck for ideas? I've put a few on the slides to give you a little inspiration.

A couple of things to remember:
- Make sure you share your availability and last posting dates.
- Don't use the hashtag 'Valentine's Day' as it's banned! More on that another time!

I hope this is helpful - why not save it and keep it for later.

⚠ Attention small businesses!

Stop asking your followers to do this...

PLEASE HELP BUILD UP MY BUSINESS PAGE.

You might think that it's a great idea to ask friends and family to like your Facebook business page because you'll potentially get a larger following, more engagement on your page and interest in your business and services.

Sadly this won't be the case.

Yes you might get a few more followers, but you won't get the engagement or sales you're hoping for because friends and family are NOT your ideal customers. They aren't the people buying from you or using your services. But it’s great to have their support ☺️

To get the results you want, you need to know who your ideal customers are.

You need to know how they use social media, their pain points, how your businesses can help solve these etc. You need to target your messaging so you speak to your ideal customer directly. This is all part of your social media strategy.

With a good social media strategy you will reach your ideal customers, increase your profile and improve sales.

Stop using these trending posts and start planning your social media strategy!

If you're not sure where to start on finding your ideal customer or putting a strategy together, please DM me. I'd be happy to help!

🐶 How cute is this little pooch?!

Now I've got you 😆 I've made a list of awareness days that are coming up through January, which are really handy if you are stuck for content ideas for your business.

Take a look through if you have a minute.

Say for example you are a garden centre, you can use Houseplant Appreciation Day on the 10th to provide your audience with helpful tips on how to look after houseplants or which ones are great for beginners.

If you are a tea room or coffee shop, why not offer a table up on Blue Monday on 15th January for people to come in, chat and connect with others over a brew.

Sell bird seed or binoculars?! Make sure you shout about it in time for the Big Garden Birdwatch at the end of the month.

Do remember to be specific on which days you use making sure they align with your business and services.

Save this post for content inspiration when you need it this month.

Have fun!

Around 41% of the UK population will be joining you.

So if you want to be seen by your ideal customers and grab their attention when their scrolling through their social media, then make sure you have an enaging post that stops them in their tracks.

Share with them the news of your new product that is launching very soon. Let them know about your new show that is coming out in the new year. Tell them something that is going to intrigue them instead of the ‘normal’ Christmas message.

What will yours say? Let me know 👇

⭐ Are you using Instagram stories?

Stories are a great way of getting in front of your followers.

Everyone uses Instagram differently. Some like to spend hours scrolling posts, others watching reels and then you have those who like to get information quickly and just tap through the stories.

Stories appear for only for 24 hours so they do give your audience a snapshot of who you are and what you do.

These 10 story ideas are a great way to start you off. Try and do a couple a day to really start showcasing what you do and keeping your audience engaged.

Let your customers know that you’ll get back to them as soon as possible, or leave some FAQs so they can get the answers to the questions that they are asking!

To do this, head to your DMs, click the three dots and click tools. Click Frequently Ask Questions and fill in the details - you can add up to four questions.
