“All of the imagery in this collection stems from my lived experience. I find it difficult to describe exactly what it’s about. To me, these paintings feel like what writing poetry probably feels like—but instead of using words to express what I feel, I use paint to convey what I can’t seem to put into words.

The drawings originate from my imagination. At times, it feels like I’m visualising my subconscious—or rather, letting it run free and express itself. The motifs loosely revolve around themes of human connection, finding one’s path in life, and achieving balance.

They take on a more storytelling approach, much like what a musician might do on an album.”

A defining element of Sun Yu’s work is his use of tranquil blue light—a symbol of wisdom and emptiness in Tibetan Buddhism. Inspired by the concept of Clear Light, his expressive brushstrokes and deep, luminous blues create a meditative space, inviting viewers into a moment of stillness and introspection.

This is an exclusive first look at select pieces from his upcoming ZEN series before its official unveiling later next month.

We are proud to present ‘THE GARAGE,’ a group exhibition celebrating modern art from around the world. No themes, no boundaries, a diverse collection of works including sculptures, paintings and outdoor murals.

The show will bring together over 15 exceptional emerging artists from around the globe, offering art lovers a unique opportunity to broaden their art horizons and immerse themselves in diverse perspectives. Through these captivating artworks, visitors can experience life through the eyes of artists from different cultures and gain a deeper understanding of their stories, traditions, and creative visions. Set in a space that mirrors the raw authenticity of the works themselves, this show invites you to connect with the world in ways you’ve never imagined.

The venue, a disused garage near London Bridge, was once a vital part of London’s industrial era, with its top floor even serving as the filming location for the first series of Dragons’ Den. Now, this moody space with its painted brick walls, concrete floors, steel rafters, and weathered shutters provides the perfect backdrop for a collection of bold and thought provoking artworks.

The Theme? There isn’t one. For this show, we wanted to embrace the boundless creativity of our artists, giving them the full freedom to present works that truly reflect their vision and what they want to share with the world. Expect to see a diverse range of styles, including figurative, surrealism, realism, street art, and pop art, presented across a variety of mediums.

Opening night is free to attend, with drinks and music to celebrate. Bring your friends and join us for an evening of art, community, and creativity.

LOCATION - The Garage, 47/49 TANNER ST. LONDON - SE1 3P
10 Minute walk from London Bridge.
OPENING TIMES:
📅 Friday, 28th March - 6 PM until 10:00 PM - OPENING NIGHT
📅 Saturday, 29th March - 11 AM until 5 PM

Digital Fathers, delves into the complexities of online masculinity and self-improvement culture by painting distorted prominent male figures, such as, Jordan Peterson, David Goggins and Jocko Willink.

70cm x 80cm (27x31”)
Acrylic on Canvas
2024

Nathan Hemi explains…..

“By examining these online figures from a neutral perspective, I encourage a thoughtful dialogue rather than blind admiration. Ultimately, ‘Digital Fathers‘ invites viewers to reflect on their own perceptions of masculinity and to consider the influences that shape their identities.

In a world where definitions of fatherhood and manhood are constantly evolving, this series serves as a platform for exploring what it means to be a man in today‘s society.”

Focusing on a universally recognisable icon in Michael Jordan, these paintings by Wade offer a meditation on the role of the idol in a contemporary society drifting further away from traditional faith based collectives such as religion. Instead we are offered celebrities, politicians, billionaires and sports stars to our salvation and direction.

Their actions give us the structure but it is the court of public opinion or rather collective memory that writes the legend. Through vibrant colours, dynamic compositions, and soft Edges, the paintings will transcend mere representation, aiming to evoke the emotions embedded in the collective memory.

The central theme of the series revolves around the power of collective memory in shaping the narrative of greatness. Michael Jordan’s career serves as a prism through which we examine the selective retention of details, the reinterpretation of events, and the profound impact on the cultural consciousness. By focusing on specific scenes and moments, the works aims to dissect how these instances contribute to the larger-than-life mythos that surrounds Jordan and what that reveals to us, the viewer/spectator, in regards to our own agency in myth creation and how we interpret the “Hero’s Journey”.

Focusing on a universally recognisable icon in Michael Jordan the paintings offer a meditation on the role of the idol in a contemporary society drifting further away from
traditional faith based collectives such as religion. Instead we are offered celebrities, politicians, billionaires and sports stars to our salvation and direction.

“My recent works, like Centaur and Luce, are a reflection of my self-identify’s complexities, contradictions, and absurdities. Using symbolic elements and abstract shapes encapsulated within a unique, gender-ambiguous being; I mirror my experiences with gender expression, sexuality, and cultural identity through comedy and exaggeration.”

A little about how Mila makes the works….. 🎨

“In my most recent experimental technique, I aim to recall all my previous knowledge working in digital arts and merge it with my current, more expressive, traditional painting workflow. To do so, I create a digital (often abstract) image which I then print on archival paper, from here I use clear gesso to transfer and join the fibers of the raw canvas and paper while priming the surface to paint on. Finally, I use acrylic paint to construct the shapes and volumes of an avatar character using the digital image as a colour base.”

‘Tropical Duality’ by .useche

Mila blends pop-inspired visuals with personal narratives, often drawing on symbolism from religion, Japanese animation and pre-Colombian mythologies. All
aspects present in her formative years in Colombia.

‘Tropical Duality’
Mixed Media, paper and acrylic on Canvas
100 cm x 100 cm (39.3 x 39.3 in.)

‘Adam Catches the Apple’
Acrylic on Canvas
45.5 x 45.5 cm (17.9x 17.9 in.)

“I am a Colombian-German painter exploring themes of fluidity and constraint within self-identity and self- expression in our time. Influenced by the Japanese Superflat movement, Colombian precolonial arts, current world events, and my experience working in animation.

In my work I apply acrylics onto canvas in a free, almost childlike quality, using unrefined shapes alongside more complex rendering methods to develop avatars that encapsulate different modules of my identity. This approach allows me to overlap my younger self’s intuitive energy with my present self’s logical thought process, allowing collaboration between these two contradictory and sometimes conflicting identities on the canvas.”
