There were many great successes from the Plan to Action Fund 2021 - some of the films are still in the process of being completed as of today 3rd Feb 2023 - one of which was Nana Duncan's Losing Joy, which the fund contributed £500 to the eventual total budget they raised of £15,840.

As well as the BFI Flare LGBTQ Film Festival 2022, and the Blackstar Film Festival 2022, the film also played at the Edinburgh International Film Festival 2022 - a BAFTA qualifying event! Since, Nana has written for The Independent, works for Netflix as a production assistant, and co-hosts the Two Two's podcast

The final film of the Plan to Action Fund 2021, all chosen by Creative Connex and the Black Seeds Network, is Effective 12.01AM by Vikesh Govind and Timothy Casten

“Effective 12.01AM blurs the line between documentary and fiction. An art film that incorporates surreal, cinematic imagery and combines it with something more real and grounded. We begin our process by interviewing and filming People of Colour and asking a series of questions about the type of future they envision. For example, how do you imagine the world would look if you could shape the way that you are seen by not only yourself, but by the wider community?

“Using our interviews as a base, we will construct the film around them and create visuals that represent their responses. This may be in the form of abstract or symbolic imagery, or perhaps something more real-life and responsive. What is important is that we create something that is honest and authentic, that provides a sense of hopefulness and allows us to look forward without having to bring up race or identity-related trauma.”

Tanazia Gabriel-Fleary's Black Girl Trauma is the next short film in production on the Plan To Action Fund 2021.

"The main plot follows Tanazia on her journey to fully understanding herself mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Offset by the pandemic, Tanazia experiences symptoms of depression and anxiety, topped with the stress of university and her budding career on the horizon. Alongside the racial and political climate highlighted in 2020, Tanazia is forced to come to terms with her internal conflicts and how they all play a role in her current mental health. Tanazia’s initial denial of her mental health struggles is an embodiment of black women not recognising the symptoms due to a lack of framework for their mental wellbeing. During her difficult time, Tanazia starts writing the blog ‘Black Girl’s Trauma Column’, but realises that further intervention is needed for her healing. "
"As a young Black, Caribbean woman from West Yorkshire, Tanazia provides racial, regional, and cultural representations, unconventional from the few black British representations currently available. Her character and back story delve into working class life in the North as well as coming from the small island of Grenada, presenting the multiplicity of black Britishness. "
