Quick update for my FB people, TLDR: Dub Studio is re-opening in a couple of weeks, and the new website is open for orders.
So it turns out that life without cutting dub plates isn't all it's cracked up to be. Don't get me wrong, I really needed some prolonged time out, and I had a mountain of unfinished things in my professional and personal life that I simply couldn't have tackled while the studio was open, but I have made a massive dent in all that now, and I am starting to feel like I can resurface again.
At the same time, I was able to use the down time to pursue some other interests and life goals, things that ultimately will keep me happier in the long run and hopefully make running a studio more sustainable in the coming years.
And talking of sustainable... I had to think long and hard about the type of work I want to do, and the price I am going to need to charge in order to get a good work life balance back. So inevitably I have had to bump prices up, not only to keep inline with inflation, but also to avoid burning out again. I am also going to be expanding the range of services and products on offer, so keep an eye out for those.
Anyway, if you are still there... I just wanted to say a massive thanks to everyone for supporting my decision to take time out. Back then I felt like it might be for good, but after negotiating with myself I started to see a future at Dub Studio again, and I can only hope that you will have faith in me as you once did. Big up.
