Our Story

Greatbear audio and video digitising has evolved from a love of tape based audio and video recordings and a desire to restore, preserve and use this technology which is disappearing quickly in the digital revolution and information age that we work and live in. There are a range of other businesses offering transfer and digitising services in the UK from small home based individuals to large industrial scale document transfer facilities. These tend to focus on a particular market and either don’t have the flexibility or the specialised equipment to cater for all types of transfers and customers’ needs. While perfection isn’t usually possible or always wanted, we do take pride in getting the very best from tape in both the condition and preservation of the tape itself and the sourcing, restoration and usage of the best playback machines and digitising tools. We like to talk and we recognise the value both personally and professionally of all recordings and are happy to offer advice and support. Although based in Bristol, we have worked on projects throughout the UK and Europe.
