Some behind the scenes of last week's SGS Sports Academies live stream! ✨ Our Year 2 Sports Media class spent the sunny afternoon filming SGS Male Rugby (ACE) VS Beechen Cliff. It was a winning result for SGS Male Rugby with the final result of 42-27! 🏈 Congratulations to the team and a big shout out to the student crew for filming the entire match, taking photos, vision mixing, steaming and commentating the game! 👏

Some behind the scenes of Platform photography from last week! 📸 Platform is our yearly collaborative week with Bristol Institute of Performing Arts - BIPA. 🎭🕺 The week consists of the performing arts students creating an end of week showcase performance, while the BAM students help document and cover the media footage during preparation and rehearsals! It is a fun and collaborative week which helps students from both institutes make new friends, practise their chosen disciplines and network for future collaborations! ✨

It's been a busy summer for our BAM students, and we have had many return after the holidays with some exciting achievements! One of them being from second year Sports Media student, Alfie Gendall, who's report and picture made it into the Yate and Chipping Sodbury Voice! 📰

✨🏆 Student Achievement Alert!! 🏆✨

One of our Year 2 Sports Media students, James Townley, has had the incredibly opportunity of working with Team PB Racing as a Race Reporter and Social Media Team Member! 🤩🏎 James has been busy spending his time interviewing drivers and providing an analysis of the team's performances in race weeks and regularly posting and updating their social media channels! What an amazing opportunity and a solid work experience placement!

Workshops are back and are in full swing here at Bristol Academy of Media! Here we have some of the first year Film & TV students getting their hands on some of our Canon cameras and exploring the basics of camera settings such as ISO, Shutter Speed and Aperture! 📸

🎉📣 Bristol Rovers WFC Update!!! 📣🎉

were the winners of this weekend's match against Bridgewater Town WFC where they won 4-0! 🏆⚽
As usual, our dedicated team of staff and students were there to cover the media for the day! 🎥📸 The BAM team filmed the whole game, as well as putting together highlights of the match and conducting post-match interviews with the players and team members! 🎙
A big shout out to BAM Students Josh Axford, Adam Hall, Dan Coggan and Riley Clarke and BAM Staff members Lauren Warr and Steve Mazillius who were present on the match day and volunteered their creative services! 👏
It is so great to be working back with Bristol Rovers at the Memorial Stadium again, also our first time filming the interviews in the press room too! 😃

We love these screenshots of Level 3 Animation student, Jacob Rothwell's short film that he made for his Final Major Project! 😍 The short film is about Godzilla walking the earth and planning to destroy the SGS College Wise Campus! 😨 Some amazing drawings and great animation work from Jacob and we are excited to see what he creates in the second year of the course! 🙌

Over this past year, our Sports Media students have had the incredible opportunity of working with Bradley Stoke Radio in creating their very own radio show 'Friday Sports Club'! ⚽📻 The radio show was a great success and a very fun and enriching experience for our students, who got to talk about their favourite subject and learning from the radio experts at BS Radio and from radio legend, Geoff Twentyman, on how to be successful broadcast journalists! Here is a short video giving insight into this fantastic experience! 🤩

Bristol Academy of Media is seeking a Lecturer in Media to join our creative, dynamic and growing team! If you're passionate about Film & TV and have a desire to teach and inspire others, this might be for you!

This position is 4 days a week and based on our WISE Campus.

Something very exciting has been cooking up here at Bristol Academy of Media...! 👩‍🍳 Bristol Rovers came to our TV Studio facilities to create the media for next season's kit launch!!! ⚽🩳 We are always very happy to host clients to use our facilities here at BAM, as not only is it always great to make the connections, but lovely for students to get the chance to get involved and gain experience! ✨ Our Sports Media FdA student, Josh Axford, worked as a member of the crew during this shoot, where he learnt all kinds of tricks of the trade! 📸 Josh is now off to the Memorial Ground for another shoot this week, to continue developing his skills with this valuable partner!

Our Story

Bristol Academy of Media is based at South Gloucestershire and Stroud College’s WISE Campus, offering innovative and creative media education at Levels 1-5 for young people across the greater Bristol area.

If you have a love for film, journalism or media, then this is the place for you. BAM students can study in a variety of media disciplines including Film & TV Production, Sports Media, and Animation & VFX, with a focus on producing high-standard media content.

BAM teaching focuses on practical skills, supported by a range of academic areas. Our students are continually honing their practical skills in camerawork, sound, lighting, editing and visual effects, and they work as industry professionals every year, either on professional work placements, or on film commissions for real clients. We aim to give students a taste of life in the industry, with all that demands.

Our media students have access to some impressive facilities, including: WISE TV Studio Professional quality Edit Suite, offering Final Cut Pro & Adobe Creative Cloud Huge array of audio-visual equipment (inc. broadcast-quality cameras, rigs, lights and sound equipment), all bookable by our students 4 high-spec Mac study spaces, comprising of 60 computers BAM has helped many young media enthusiasts go on to make their name professionally. Many of our students progress on to prestigious media universities, and successfully pursue work in their chosen profession.
