Based in Bristol, and with access to many interesting and great-sounding spaces, Michal primarily records onto 1/2" tape reel-to-reel 8-tracks using a variety of vintage microphones and valve preamps. An at-home mixing suite includes a 1977 Allen & Heath Mod III console and Revox PR99 1/4" mastering recorder. Prefering to use the natural sound and atmosphere of halls, houses, basements and barns,
rather than 'proffessional' studios, Michal has built a fully analogue set-up that can easily be placed in a variety of situations. Michal began recording music and experimenting with tape recorders in 1993, and has been actively involved in lo-fi/ DIY/ punk/ feminist/ underground music since then. He is known for playing in Headfall, The Awkward Dancers, Baby Cupid and Corey Orbison, and co-founding the Spazoom and Local Kid labels. A Record Of Everything has grown out of a necessity to create great sounding recordings in a relaxed environment, and at an price that is affordable to independent bands, artists and labels.
