She Is El Capo is WIDE Radio’s founder, an online media and podcasting platform showcasing the latest breakthrough artists in underground electronic music, specifically featuring those from Latin America.
She moved to Bristol in 2019 and became a Mix Nights' graduate, a female led DJ course pushing the boundaries for equality in the music scene. As part of the showcase, Nikols performed her DJ set at The Love Inn under the alias She Is El Capo.
She Is El Capo is a name that calls for female empowerment; to move away from the concept that 'El Capo', a common name to describe a drug lord, is a man who leads and has power, in this case Nikols refers to herself as El Capo, a female figure meant to preach new and radical Latin American sounds influenced by global electronic music, a blend she calls ‘dark reggaeton’.
Genres: global bass, club, dembow, reggaeton, dark techno is WIDE Radio’s founder and director, mind-split between Latin America and the UK she promotes new music from up and coming artists through radio and online media. In 2007 Nikols took her first steps in 2007 as a Youtuber and later on as a radio host and music selector/DJ leading on to found her own online radio station with the support of friends, colleagues and artists to push the latest breakthrough artists with a tilt towards the underground electronic music, Club, Dance, R&B, Grime, Hip Hop and New Latino Sounds.
