Assembled in the UK 🇬🇧 We make, test and prepare each product by hand. We take an unnecessary amount of effort in making each one of these Vestax PMC-05 series power supply boards. Each one has a combination of quality electrical parts guaranteed to give the best performance, sounds like marketing speak but I genuinely care about all of our products. The heatsink is the most expensive part of the entire board, it’s overkill but important to ensure that even if a 30VDC supply is used instead of the 15VDC it will still work without issues. The D.C. jack has gold plated contacts to ensure no oxidisation over time and the smoothing caps are all Panasonic.
Vestax PMC-CX Restoration Part 6: Continuing with the paintwork, the enclosure has been chemical dipped and primed. I’ve added metal filler to smooth out the major pit marks from the bottom cover. Next step is powder coating in matt black. Once finished it will look brand new and will have an incredibly durable finish.

Vestax PMC-CX Restoration Part 5: Re-created the AC-20 PSU for the CX. When it arrived there was a replacement transformer which had been screwed to a piece of wood with all the main voltage wires showing. Since it was a 75VA power transformer it was larger than the original and required this massive housing to fit it in. The cable was re-wired to the 3 pin connecter and the electrical work was tidied up. Even created a new sticker to make it look the business. Now it’s safe again and useable.
Very excited to show you this, after a few revisions I’m finally able to release our new Vestax PMC-05 Pro series PSU upgrade.
90% of the 05 mixers I have come in have damaged power supplies from reverse voltage when using the wrong power supply.
This replaces the stock PSU with a more reliable 12V supply which includes reverse voltage protection and LED indicator to protect your mixer in case if a wrong power supply is inserted.
When the correct centre negative supply is inserted the LED lights up and the mixer works as normal. If switched to centre positive a blocking diode prevents the mixer from being damaged. Simply go back to the right supply and everything is fine again.
Suitable for if your mixer is broken or you want to protect it for the future. 9 are available in store now.

I promised an update to the neglected PMC-07 and after a full service it is back to its former glory. Wearing a brand new black and gold faceplate it has had a complete strip down, clean and repair and is working perfectly. Available for sale if anyone is interested.
Bought this Vestax PMC-07 pro to bring it back to life. Only after it arrived did I find out it used to be DJ Prime Cuts and DJ Excel’s former mixer. For those that have seen the incredible prints by The Worxlab this was also the same mixer they used for the design.

Vestax PMC-CX Restoration Part 3: Since the old PSU board was nice and crispy I made a 1:1 copy for the restoration. Hand drawn traces and silkscreen artwork with gold plated contacts.
We have a set of our aluminium fader panels for the Vestax QFO LE available immediately. Made from 3mm thick aluminium the artwork is UV printed onto the aluminium and then dipped in an anodising tank to provide a clear tough finish. Price is £120 DM to purchase.

Want to know what’s inside a Vestax VU meter for the PMC-400 and PMC-CX?
This particular VU meter was badly rusted and wasn’t going to be salvageable for the CX restoration.
Luckily they are made by the same company which makes them for Teac and Tascam for their reel machines.
To disassemble it, the front bezel comes off easily. Here you can swap the axial lamp with a bit of soldering. It seems Vestax crimped the end of the cartridge holder to use this style of lamp, Teac on the other hand used pop in cartridges which are much more user friendly.
The top contacts provide power for the light whilst the bottom two are for the signal. Both are glued into the casing so if you ever needed to repair one a combination of heat and very careful application of something to dissolve the glue would help.
The indicator background is a thin aluminium sheet which is not glued to the case instead it’s slid in from the top and taped down.
Serviced this Vestax PMC-05 Pro II a while back but couldn’t let it go back to the customer with its yellow k***s.
The k***s were cleaned in a ultrasonic bath, them sprayed with several coats of a close matching champagne gold then finished off with a few coats of lacquer for protection. Looks good as new.
From zero to hero.
This Vestax PMC-07 black edition (not 25th anniversary) was given to me as a spares unit (see January 2024) It had been used to keep another 07 going but I fancied a challenge.
Now it’s up and running and looking 💯
It wasn’t easy:
Sourced new input faders, designed and built the PCBs for them.
Fixed a lot of broken solder joints on the voltage regulators and AC input socket.
Installed two of my IS-05 toggle switches with mounting plates.
Replaced a few ALPS pots and missing screws
Manufactured a new black faceplate.
Sourced NOS caps and k***s.
Vestax PMC-CX Restoration Part 2: Fault finding and disassembly.
Took about 3 seconds to work out what had gone wrong in the mixer. One of the smoothing caps had exploded and judging by the board the PCB has been overheating too.
On the underside of the power supply we could see that ground trace had been completely lifted (not sure why) but they’d done a pretty terrible job of fixing it.
The board was cleaned up and is completely repairable but I might just make a new PCB instead.
Some of the hardware was incredibly rusted even to the extent that one of the jacks snapped off when unscrewing a nut.
Another issue is a ALPS Rk163 10KB pot had snapped off at some point but this is easily sourced.
With the PCBs out, the enclosure will be sandblasted and powder coated to make it new again. I’m hoping sometime next week it can be re-assembled.
