EDUCATION:
This is a section to highlight your academic qualifications. It is advisable that you stick to the essentials only that is your high school qualifications and your Tertiary qualifications.
I've seen CVs where people list their Ordinary and Advanced Level subjects and I'm shaken. PLEASE DONT DO THAT 👎❌️. The name of your school and the year attended is more than enough. Do not include your primary school record there (let museums be in the business of handling ancient history and not your CV).

Employers are mostly concerned about what you have to offer as a professional hence if it's not your first job then scratch the Education section completely however if it's your first job then you can include the Education section but stick to the guidelines above.

WORK EXPERIENCE:
Explain in one or two sentences the position at a glance or your main responsibilities in the position that you held. Write in point form (bullet points) for easier reading. Each bullet point should explain the accomplishment and/or responsibility together with the results that were achieved in the role.

PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY:
- Use this section to explain in two to three sentences what you can do for a company.
- Demonstrate how your background and experience will help the company solve a particular problem.
- Mention your greatest accomplishments as they pertain to the position you’re applying to.
- Discuss your specialty and what makes you an expert.
- Use the job advert to structure your personal summary in a way that ensures your CV is ATS friendly.

Overall this is your chance to 'sell' yourself as it's the first thing an employer sees when they open your CV.

I have been getting a lot of questions on how to structure a CV in a way that will get you the attention that you need from potential employers. Well this is my response to you. I will drop hints on what you need to have in your CV and hopefully once you implement these you'll be able to land your dream job.

Your CV needs to speak for you in a way that makes the employer want to interview you or even better HIRE YOU. These are the sections you need to have in your CV:
- Personal Summary
- Work Experience
- Volunteer Experience
- Education
- Professional Skills
- Professional memberships

I will go into depth with each section in the coming days so stay tuned, share and fix your CV.

Still on that CV jazz........ it's quite funny how a person expects to land a job when their CV is all glitz and glam like a Christmas tree. Make sure your CV is easy to read,straight to the point and doesn't have tables,colour and excessive formatting. All these make your CV unreadable by ATS and you end up wondering why you're always applying but getting no response.
