☕️ Yeah, we’re a film processing lab, and we’ve teamed up with our favourite Bristol coffee roasters, Radical Roasters, to bring you a very special limited edition coffee.

To celebrate, we’re having a full on love-in of a party at Radical Roasters in Easton, Bristol on Thursday 13th Feb, just in time for Pal/Val/Galentines.

There will be free coffee to sample, and some very special free Espresso Martinis made with our own coffee. Not to mention a photobooth and some goodies for anyone who buys a bag of the good stuff (coffee) on the night.

You DO NEED to get yourself a FREE TICKET for the party. To do this, comment ‘coffee’ on this post and we’ll DM you the link. Or you can type QRCO.DE/FRESHPOT into your browser.

The coffee will be available in 100g bags, and can either be purchased wholebean or ground. If you can’t make the party, boooo, but the coffee will be available on the website or in the lab from Friday 14th Feb.

We look forward to seeing yourselves down there on Thursday night for some caffeinated fun!

🖼️ PRINT SWAP /// Weds 27th Nov // 7pm - 11pm // Wiper & True Taproom, Old Market.

Another fine edition of one of our favourite and most popular socials. A chance to show and share your work in print with others, swap with others and take someone else’s prints home with you.

They don’t have to be amazing spenny prints, they can be printed in anyway whatsoever, on your dot matrix printer if you have to. But bring a few.

Look forward to seeing you all. 💕

🎙️NEW EPISODE OUT NOW!

Maisie () has been a long time friend of the lab and came to work with us over the summer, on her break from uni.

We’ll miss her loads, but before returning to London for her final year of her degree in Photojournalism and Documentary Photography, we had just enough time and thought it’d be fun if she joined us on the podcast for a good chat. 🩷

You can checkout our podcast from the link on our website, or comment LISTEN on this post and we’ll send you the link. 🔗

⭐️ We spoke to .potter a little while ago about documenting moments, and how he turned to shooting film during the COVID pandemic.

“For me, shooting on film has been about allowing my photography to be authentic - up until Covid took hold in 2020, my photography was entirely digital & had largely been a by-product of social media. I was editing a very specific ‘fine art’ style I’d developed and I found myself having this sort of constant internal debate about image authenticity vs. ‘the Instagram look’. Retrospectively it sounds dumb as hell, but it’s an easy trap to fall into.

I started shooting with medium format & 35mm which forced me to start really documenting moments & enabled me to give much less of a sh*t about social media. It’s completely refreshed my relationship with photography because it’s not fire & forget, which digital can be a lot of the time, it’s about the process, the narrative, the composition & your own ability. I’m no purist, but for me, receiving scans of a portrait that you nailed far outweighs the feeling of knowing you got a couple of good ones out of 100 on your SD card. I get it wrong with film a lot of the time but working on mastering it is part of the fun.”

🗓️ NEXT EVENT: Show & Tell Social - Tuesday 28th May // 6pm - 11pm // The Stable, Harbourside.

It’s a sort of new format, but nowt crazy. Basically a bit of a social, and a bit like a print swap, except you can bring anything you want to show off. I mean…probably keep it photography related, no one cares about your swimming certificates.

But…it could be a print of yours, someone else’s, a photo book, a zine you did, a zine someone else did, a camera you love, a flash you don’t know how to use, a camera strap that you’re just so excruciatingly passionate about. Anything.

Hopefully see you there. x

⭐️ We recently spoke to Bristol based wedding photographers, power-couple and all round megababes; Gina () & Jack () AKA about what they love about photographing on film, and why it’s something they’ve worked into their commercial wedding photography work.

“We enjoy shooting film simply because we love it. We love the look, we love the process, the whole experience. Apart from the way film looks, we take photos with more purpose. Shooting with film requires a more deliberate and mindful approach compared to digital photography. We do shoot digital too, we base a lot of our digital edits on film stocks we love. We are a big fan of Kodak Portra + Gold, so a lot of our edits are influenced by the soft, warm tones, with a lovely helping of grain to top it off.

We started dabbling with film at weddings in 2022. We were solely shooting digital and figured we’d try it. Film is our origin story, it’s why we both got into photography in the first place, so why weren’t we using it now? It’s where we found our love for photography, so it seemed dumb to not incorporate it into our wedding photography biz. The demand for film in our industry is on the rise, over half of our bookings this year include film and for 2025 it’s even more. Film is certainly not dead. Also, it’s just cool AF right?”

Gina and Jack shoot the majority of their film on a combo of SLR’s and point & shoots, across a variety of film stocks, namely Portra & Gold, HP5+ as well as occasionally some more experimental stocks.

Our bloody good friends over at Negative Thinking start their next iteration of The Experimental Darkroom on Wednesday 2nd April. They do this course twice a year and are looking for 2 more folk to join this amazing cohort!

This course will turn your photographic practice on its head as you learn what it is to print, and paint with light.

For anyone looking for something to rock the boat shifting into the next chapter in your photographic journey. No previous darkroom experience is needed, just a curious mind and open heart.

Guided for 8 weeks by Tim Pearse, who is just a brilliant artist, mentor and a friend of the lab - he is both a master printer at the top of his trade, as well as a disruptor of the norm. “Learn the rules in order to break them”.

If you want to get involved, drop them a DM on their profile

This morning we took a little trip to , before we opened, to check out One Day, an exhibition of photography and ephemera from the miners’ strike 1984-1985.

Featuring some fantastic work by one of the most influential British photographers of his generation, Chris Killip, as well as work photographed by many other photojournalists during the strikes, including some beautiful original press prints.

Really excellent and well worth a trip down to see before it ends on Easter Weekend.

🆕 Vision 3 500T 👉 SWIPE FOR EXAMPLES

Available now at the lab or online. One of Kodak’s most popular motion picture stocks. 500T is a tungsten balanced film stock, the base stock for Cinestill’s 800T, it is balanced to the coolness of tungsten light (3500k) which will render relatively true to life colours in this light. This film benefits from a wide gamut and impressive latitude, complimented by the famous cinematic looks of Kodak’s motion picture stock.

These have been hand-rolled by us at the lab into ISO 400 DX-coded canisters, comprising of approximately 36 exposures. Though this film can be over and under-exposed by about a stop with satisfying results.
