We’ve published over 60 string titles during our first few months, covering violin, viola, cello, double bass and harp.

Clifton Edition have re-published a range of ‘Simplest’ piano albums. The series comprises:

‘Traditional’ titles, arranged in the simplest format for the beginner pianist, with chord symbols. Grades 1 — 3.
And ‘Composer’ titles: urtext editions, carefully selected for their playability. These new editions are simply edited and without unnecessary frills.

The common thread throughout is to offer value for money and above all: playablility.

Clifton Edition have re-published the three fantasic collections of Gypsy Tunes collected by Gundula Stojanova Gruen.

Each book offers sensational backing tracks played by Gundula on Violin and Živorad Nicolić on Accordion.

Clifton Edition now provide instant PDF downloads of [nearly] all printed music scores, as a convenient alternative to buying the printed copy. The price of the download is in each case exactly the same as the printed book, but the transaction will not incur postage and packing costs of course and the music is available instantly. Stainer and Bell Ltd (via https://stainer.co.uk/category/publisher/clifton-edition/) provide this service on our behalf as Clifton Edition’s exclusive distributors. The system cleverly marks each page of the PDF both visibly and invisibly with a watermark which shows the name of the licensee and the date of purchase.

At the time of writing, Clifton Edition have published over 250 titles, of which over 100 are already available as downloads with the remainder to be completed ASAP – hopefully before the end of 2023.

Mark and Pat Goddard are thrilled to announce the birth of a new music publishing company: Clifton Edition Limited.

Dedicated to rescuing important titles made unavailable by the demise of Spartan Press, distribution will commence in May this year thanks to our friends Stainer and Bell.

All titles will be immaculately re-engraved in traditional concert size, (9“ x 12“) and printed to the highest standards by celebrated music specialist printers Halstans or Caligraving.

We have been humbled by overwhelming support from a wide range of music industry stalwarts and have planned an urgent and ambitious reprint schedule. We already have commitments from many of the major composers of the old Spartan empire including Alan Bullard, Mark Tanner, Bryan Kelly, Rob Hall, Richard Wade and others.

The new website CliftonEdition.com will present our reprint schedule as it unfolds. Rome wasn’t built in a day and it’ll take some time and a lot of investment, but I feel exited to be back in the game again after a five year “hoax retirement”!
