URF - University Radio Falmer

The University Of Sussex's Student Radio Station - URF URF stands for University Radio Falmer and is the student radio station at the University of Sussex.

It's one of the oldest student radio stations in the country and is also one of the only stations that doesn’t playlist it's shows. Based on the top floor of Falmer House at the University of Sussex, URF broadcasts across campus, Brighton and the world via www.urfonline.com and on DAB (Digital

Radio). Student DJs determine the music policy, as URF is run entirely by student volunteers. So whether you're a big reggae fan or prefer a bit of R&B they'll probably be a show for you on URF. Getting involved in student radio is not only fun, but can be incredibly rewarding, looks great on your CV and past members have gone on to work for Juice 107.2FM and the BBC. There are lots of opportunities to get involved in the station - from hosting your own radio show to joining one of our teams (Music, News, PR and Events, Tech, Production).

We have many roles to choose from where you will be introduced to by our current committee members. You can make many changes to URF as after all it is your radio and your committee!

We’re pleased to announce that broadcasting for the spring 2025 term will begin on the 27th of January for returning shows and 3rd of February for new shows!

We close over the Christmas break but applications will be out next semester for us to start again!

Don’t forget to apply when this comes up.
All shows must reapply each semester as we have to run on a different schedule!

Slots are now open for people who want to be involved!

What to do?
1. Head over to our linktree (linktr.ee/urfonline)
2. Fill out the slot you want in our schedule sheet
3. Back to the linktree, head over to the fundraiser page
4. Donate your desired amount (min. £5) to lock in your slot choice, please make sure to leave a message with your slot choice and ’24H Broadcast
5. Send a screenshot of your donation for confirmation.

These slots will be given on a first come, first serve basis.
Make sure to include your name in both the slot sheet and the donation.

24 HOUR BROADCAST IS BACK 🌕

When?
29th - 30th November
9am - 9am

Every year here at URF, we take over the airways for 24 hours to raise money for local charities and give our support! This is a yearly event that is extremely important to URF. We fill up hourly slots with a variety of fun such as music, game shows, talking, sleep deprivation and even more!

WANT TO BE INVOLVED?
You can sign up for an hourly slot, these run on a first-come first-serve basis. If your slot is confirmed, then you will pay a donation, which will go directly to the fundraiser.

The schedule will open for slots on 11th November. Slots can go quickly, so make sure to sign up as soon as possible!

The charities we are fundraising for this year are:

🔴 - A humanitarian organisation delivering vital healthcare to Palestinians in Gaza, the West Bank, and refugee camps in Lebanon.

🔴 - A cancer charity that supports groundbreaking research, cutting-edge equipment, and exceptional patient care at The Royal Marsden, one of the world’s leading cancer centres.

The game will start at 3pm on Saturday 12th October.
It will be at The Enclosed Ground.

Tickets are £13 for adults and can be bought on the Whitehawk FC ticketing website.
