Thomas Gögele edged a tense final day battle with Bradley Dredge to win ’s Senior Italian Open with a superb 54-hole total of -19 after scores of 64, 66 and 67.

The 53-year-old German had a one-shot lead over Dredge heading into the final 18 holes at San Domenico, and it quickly became a two-horse race as Gögele made two birdies and the Welshman picked up three in the first six holes to be locked together on -16.

Both players birdied the 8th and 10th but they were finally separated when Dredge dropped a shot on the 14th.

Gögele doubled his lead to two shots with a birdie at the par-5 16th and Dredge’s three-putt bogey from long range at the par-3 17th gave him a much more comfortable three-shot advantage going up the final hole.

The German made a brilliant up-and-down to go bogey-free over the last two rounds and complete a three-shot win.

Hampshire’s secured the second title of her career after she pipped Belgium’s Manon De Roey to the Hero Women’s Indian Open title.

Trailing De Roey and compatriot Alice Hewson by one shot heading into Sunday’s final round at DLF Golf & Country Club, the 42-year-old from Brockenhurst was still a shot behind De Roey after 14 holes, but the turning point came at the par-5 15th when Young’s patience paid off and she carded an excellent birdie.

Two holes later and the treacherous 17th proved decisive again as De Roey dropped a shot to give Young the lead heading down the last.

Birdies were dropping in from the start by the contenders as six players held the lead in some capacity at Jack Nicklaus Golf Club on Sunday.

The carousel at the top of leaderboard was in full flow until Kim jumped one shot clear heading down the last when An lipped out for bogey at the penultimate hole.

Both landed their approach to eight feet for birdie putts, with An applying the pressure by draining his effort to move back alongside Kim at 17 under.

Kim needed to sink his to claim the one-shot victory, but he lipped out and the two home favourites were forced into a play-off.

Both played risky second shots when replaying the par-five last, but Kim was left in a precarious position which resulted in him shooting into the main stand with his third and carding a bogey.

An had two putts for the title on home soil and only needed one to seal his first victory on the since lifting the 2015 BMW PGA Championship.
