In the mayhem of the last week, I sort of forgot about an album of music I put up on Spotify…
It’s an attempt to recreate the noises in my head, the feelings I carry about each day and the space I feel I exist in.
It’s darkly ambient with moments of melody, slow twisting shapes,a place you can rest a while and let your mind breathe.
I hope you feel it. X

Back on the radio today, I took a slightly different route for this weeks show. I’m catalogueing my records (trying to be a grown up) and so pulling out bits and pieces and trying to find things unrelated to each other.
That’s a bit of a departure for me, I usually try and spend the two hours mixing, or at least making moves that make sense to create a harmonious mix, not this time.
Blowing the dust of tracks sat on my shelves, and I might do a bit more of this, I’ve got soooo much amazing music that deserves some sunlight…

Finally put this in a frame… sent to me very kindly by a fellow Jellyhead, a poster for .in immersive thing.
It reminded me, looking at the Impotent Fury flyer at the legendary 333 club, that was where I had my first ever DJ gig, back in the days when a DJ was something to treasure, the person who found and bought records, spent hours, days, weeks, years honing their craft, breaking their backs carrying tonnes of vinyl around.
I think I opened that gig with a track from Jeff Wayne’s ‘War of the Worlds’ (The Ben Leibrand mix obvs) I was clearly setting my stall out early…
A well crafted dj set is a thing of wonder, taking you to places you never thought you’d go, hear tracks you’ve never heard before turning into your favourite tracks in the space of minutes, knowing that those tracks were hunted down over time, and carried there on the bus or train on one’s shoulders.
Mixes like ‘Essential Selection’ or ‘Heavenly Social’ would be on repeat in my car, each twist and turn leading somewhere new.
I wonder if technology or social media has killed the DJ, I certainly don’t see many dj’s with the depth and skills and music, I’m sure you are out there though.
