New Week. New Music | ‘p h a s e s’ by 🎸💿

Josh Roberts is a 22 year old singer-songwriter whose music blends emotive storytelling with the gritty, melodic drive of indie rock. Influenced by artists like Sam Fender and Tom Odell, Josh’s songs explore themes of love, loss, and growth, drawing listeners in with his heartfelt lyrics and dynamic soundscapes. With three singles now under his belt and a recent performance at Glastonbury in 2024, Josh is quickly building a name for himself on the London music scene.
“P h a s e s” is a raw and honest exploration of the aftermath of a breakup, capturing the feeling of wanting just a little more time to make things right. With poignant lyrics and an atmospheric production, the song promises to resonate with anyone who’s ever felt the pain of love slipping through their fingers.

“Recording at South Lanes Studios has been one of the best parts of my journey so far. The studio has a relaxed, creative atmosphere that makes it easy to experiment and feel at home, which really helped me open up in the sessions. New Week. New Music | ‘Leucanthemum’ by .points 🎸💿

Formed in 2023 with members from London and Brighton, Moot Points fuse the laid-back qualities of jazz with their love for 60s/70s soundtrack music, early surf sensibilities and lo-fi funk. Their debut single ‘Leucanthemum’ - released on September 6th 2024 - began as a nylon-stringed chord progression and quickly developed into a more expansive instrumental arrangement in the studio, using synthesizers and analogue textures that nod back to the atmospheric lounge music of 60s/70s European cinema.

“We found South Lanes Studios to be a wonderful creative space, with great equipment, and a chilled vibe. It was the perfect place to record our loungey track Leucanthemum. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a recording space in Brighton.”

New Week. New Music | ‘Stoned Again’ by Arjun Nala 🎸💿

‘Stoned Again’ is a song that tries to depict the loop and discomfort of having a paranoid cannabis trip. Some would call this sound Stoner Punk Jazz.

Working with bessi at South Lanes Studios was an immersive and therapeutic experience. We had a good balance of fun and work. They really create a space that facilitates being vulnerable and allowing yourself to create without judgement. I had the best time making this song with them.
