New Year, New You?
The new year is the perfect time to check in with your bio and make sure you're making the most of it.

Are all the details correct, has anything changed in your business?

These are my Top Tips to make sure you are optimising your profile.
- Profile Pic - have you got new branding, make sure your logo is consistent across website and social

- Name Field - This field is searchable so make sure you include not only your name but also relevant keywords about what you do

- Bio Field - Use this to describe your mission, how you help people and what they can expect from you.

- Link in bio - You only get one so use it wisely. Why not create a links page on your website so you can drive people to multiple areas of your business or use a multi-link service such as Linktree. Make sure this is up to date.

- Highlights - Are you using these effectively to educate your followers about what you do? Consider highlights which include About us, Ways to work with us, testimonials, completed projects - could you be using these more strategically? Also make sure to update their contents and add a cover.

Make sure to save this so you can refer back later and let me know in the comments what changes you made.

Just when you think has taken a break for Christmas, there is yet more announcements of new features on IG.

Last week the following new features were launched, some of them are just in testing and I don't have any of them yet on my accounts, do you?

1. Notes - Leave a short note (up to 60 characters) for select followers or friends to see at the top of their inbox
2. Candid - IG's answer to BeReal - share your photo to view other people's
3. Group profiles - a new type of profile which people can join. Whenever content is shared into a group it can only be seen my members and will not appear on your grid.
4. Instagram.com/hacked - My personal fave. Having had an account hacked in the past and having to start from scratch, the ability to recover an account is news to my ears.

Which one of these new features are you most interested in? Drop me a 1-4 below and let me know.

Got your November content sorted? Stuck for ideas?

There are lots of very worthy awareness days coming up next month, many of which are ideal for trade professionals - World toilet day anyone - a great opportunity to recognise the fact that 1 out of 3 people in the world is without a toilet 🚽

Movember is another great opportunity to highlight Men's health issues and raise awareness not only for a great cause but to champion the philanthropic efforts of your business. Why not grow a tache (if you can) and share your progress on your socials.

With plenty of other awareness days which may be close to your heart, use them as an opportunity to engage with your audience, find your likeminded community and show your business has heart ♥️

Make sure to save this post so you can come back to it later and share with anyone who might need a little content prompt.

Now tell me, what's your favourite sandwich? Mine's a halloumi salad with sweet chilli sauce on granary bread 😋

Struggling with low engagement... ⤵

Yep, I hear ya but here are a few things to think about before you post 🤔

1. Try starting a conversation with your content. If you find yourself saying me, we, I then stop posting about yourself or your brand and start posting content that your audience can relate to. Think about your most commonly asked questions about your business or services and address those.

2. Do your research. What questions are your target audience asking on forums or on other social platforms. Answer the public is a great place to research content ideas. Take to your social channels to answer their queries and position yourself as a trusted authority.

3. Sometimes people need to be told what to do. Start your post with a question and tell your audience how to respond. Prompt engagement with a strong call to action (CTA)

4. Show up genuinely and create engagement; seek out your target audience and comment on their posts. Be active on your channels before you post and remain available to respond and interact with people who engage.

It's not all sell, sell, sell
People come to social media to get social, be entertained and inspired, not to to be sold to.

In fact, according to a recent GWI consumer trend report:
55% of people want funny, lighthearted content (aka a cute tortoise story)
48% of people want informative content (help them solve their problems)
47% of people want inspirational content (encourage them to take action
36% of people want relatable content (be yourself, create community)

So when it comes to creating content for your business, incorporating these different types of content + showing your personality = building the know, like and trust factor and is far more likely to engage your audience and ultimately encourage them to invest in your business services when they need them.

What's more memorable a funny plumbing meme that they shared to their stories or yet another picture of some copper pipe 🤔
