The Yard Recording Studio is an independent recording & production studio based in Hove, focusing on crafting bespoke, high quality sound for our clients at affordable rates. rates. We seek to cater to the needs of independent bands, musicians and artists, professionally engineering their music and helping them to attain their creative visions. Alex Barron is a freelance producer, engineer, mixer and multi-instrumentalist. With over 15-years experience of recording & producing bands & artists, Alex’s attention to detail in sound is unparalleled, and will go above and beyond to achieve the best possible result for the clients that he works with. Fred Hills is a professional drummer, composer and collaborator based in Hove. Having recently worked as musical director for an award-winning theatre show, Fred aims to bring his creative expertise and colourful playing to the various artistic endeavours sought at The Yard Recording Studio. www.fredhillsmusic.com

The Yard Recording will primarily serve bands, artists & musicians located (but not limited to) in Sussex, UK. We also offer our services to advertising agencies and local filmmakers who need professional sound engineering and advertising jingles.

Alex & Fred tracking drums on a lush ambient electronic track by Thom Undrell. UAD 4-710d on tube mode and an AKG c414 as a room mic slammed through a 76-kt compressor = HUGE.

Each cam angle brings a slighlty different sound: 1) Wallet on snare (dry) 2) Wallet on snare + tambourine on HH 3) Open snare w/ extra distortion + room mic cranked through 1176-KT Ran everything through Neve 1073 preamp plugin & @studeruk A800 tape emulation.
