Another delicate song from Heron...
Heron sings 'Louise'
Not the best quality but I thought I'd add another clip from the Japanese tour in 2016.
Tomorrow's Child
Another posting prompted by all the events currently going on in the world. 'Tomorrow's Child' was written by Gerry Power in the late 1980s and is a reflection on what was, and still is, going on in the world. How do we explain ourselves to the children and the children's children? When Gerry joined Heron his song instantly became a favourite for their set list. This performance is part of Heron's 'First Finale' concert at Bridport Arts Centre in 2005.

Intro & outro of a John Peel Sunday concert
20th June 1971 was a big day for Heron. We were 'In Concert' with David Bowie at a John Peel live audience concert at the BBC Paris Studios. We had so much fun and games at rehearsals that the producers considered taking us off the show! We promised them that we would behave for the actual performance. But we planned a little surprise for the end of the gig...maybe you were there? It certainly wrong-footed David Bowie, who was introducing his new band, and he was nervous when he went on stage. Heron likes to think that "we blew Bowie off stage!!" (haha) but I think history tells a different story.
Heron playing at West Dean College in the '8os
Having seen a few pictures of Big Tom Robinson I thought I'd put up a video from the '80s when Tom was playing regularly with Heron. This was a concert at West Dean College arranged by Tony for invited guests. As with a lot of early Heron videos it's not brilliant quality but it's what it is. Maybe you were there...
Tail end of Heron's 'In a Field of their Own'
And now for something different. In 1997, while recording in Black Dog, Luke Bond and his camera team recorded much of the goings on. It culminated in a lighthearted documentary about Heron recording outdoors on a farm. Titled 'In a Field Of Their Own' and its full length version is available in the 'After the Dawn - Relaxx Record years 1983 -2005' box set released in Japan in 2020. This clip is just the tail end - more to come...
Heron promo video 1997
It's been fun looking through the Heron archives again today. I'd forgotten this little tongue in cheek trailer we did in 1997 to promote Heron's 'River of Fortune' album and the accompanying docurockumockumentary 'In a Field of their Own'.
With a voiceover by 'Legs' Larry Smith of the Bonzos it follows the Relaxx Records recording session at Black Dog in Devon. It was marred by the sudden death of Princess Diana on the day recording began but it settled into a fun week for all of us.

Steve Jones explains a little bit of the background of Relaxx Records and welcomes Heron fans to the new Facebook site.
Heron in the Troubador Recording Studio, Falmouth 2009
Here at Relaxx Records we're focussing on Heron for the first month or two on Facebook. We've been rummaging through some of the Relaxx archives and discovered these little clips. Clive Whaley videoed a couple of Heron songs during the recording session in 2009 for the 'Simple as One Two Three' album. It was the first time Heron had it's original line up back together for many years. It's very brief but it gives a bit of a taster of behind the scenes with Heron. Plenty more to come folks - so watch this space.
