Not the first week back we needed in 2025!

A fully booked week on the ladders has all had to be put back at least a week - here’s hoping this snow clears over the weekend.

One of the few jobs we’ve managed to do was call out to a 3 year old CCTV system for a customer in Wibsey. The fault reported was that it wasn’t recording. We knew what to expect - seen it many times before - a 3 year old CCTV system with a 12 year old hard drive in it, which looks to have been taken from a scrap Sky box.

All our CCTV systems are ALL brand new. Every single component is guaranteed for 3 years - including the hard drive.

Anyway… back to the work situation… We’re now (as Micky Flanagan would say) ‘double busy’ next week and no doubt the rest of January - this week’s backlog will take time to clear, once the snow has finally gone.

Priority appointments for elderly customers with no TV will, as always, be available though.

Thanks to all our customers who were booked in this week who have been so patient - we will get to you as soon as it’s safe to do so.

‘No satellite signal is being received’ messages on Sky or Freesat?

It’s likely to be being caused by snow on your satellite dish. If it’s within reach, trying giving it a gentle tap with a broom handle or similar. This should dislodge the snow and restore your signal.

We’ve been in business for over 30 years in Bradford. Earning a living in this city is hard enough without Bradford Council’s latest attack on small businesses…

Residents parking permits are about to be charged at £35 a year. If the resident buys a visitor permit, they’re an additional £40 a year.

If we’re called out to a job where permits are required, we almost certainly aren’t going to be able to do them the same day. Let’s explain why…

If the resident has a visitor permit, they can go online and should be able to add us to it temporarily. If they don’t, or can’t, we have to pay. And how this is done is as clear as mud….

We *may* be entitled to a contractors permit, which appears to be £10 a week. But has to be applied for in advance - although the council don’t specify how far in advance.

We can apply for a dispensation but this also has to be done in advance - £15 if it’s 3 days in advance or £20 if it’s 24 hours in advance. It’s impossible to do it on the spot.

Our jobs are often done the same day. Often completed within an hour. They’re often not very high value. So paying an additional £15/£20 to park outside a customer’s home, paid at least 24-36 hours in advance just isn’t viable.

If my interpretation of their guidance is correct, this is going to have a serious impact on our business in Bradford.

This is more complete madness from this shambolic Bradford Council.

It would appear Sky have a problem with their Sky Glass TV’s.

To ensure this doesn’t happen again, get rid of it and get a proper telly.

LOSS OF FREEVIEW TV CHANNELS.

The Keighley Freeview TV transmitter is off air following last night’s high winds.

We’ve had no information from Arqiva, the French company who own the UKs TV transmitters but we’ll update as and when we have an update from our customers.

UPDATE - the transmitter was back on air on Friday afternoon and reception should be back to normal.

It’s been a tough week working in this heat.

Highlight of the week was a couple of visits to this caravan park just outside Haworth, where deer wander freely and feed from the resident’s hands. I could’ve sat for hours watching them, so beautiful.

Some residents had been told that Freeview reception was impossible from here, being deep in a valley bottom. But we got a lovely signal to 4 rooms in this stunning lodge.
