Thank you to every one of our readers for being part of our journey in 2025.

This year, our digital platform grew organically by more than 170%, not through paid promotion, but through your support. Every comment, every like and every share helped amplify our stories, and for that we are truly grateful.

As we step into 2026, our commitment remains the same: to stay connected with our community and to continue delivering the news, voices and stories you trust.

Over the festive period, we’ve loved being out in the community, sharing conversations, smiles and favourite drinks, which perfectly reflects what Asian Standard is about: people, connection and real voices. In that same spirit, thank you for the love you’ve shown our podcast Chaii & Charcha. We look forward to bringing you many more inspiring guests and powerful stories in 2026.

We’re especially grateful to our partners at Chaiiwala for supporting our journalism and helping us create a space where meaningful conversations can be shared and celebrated.

Thank you for believing in what we do, and for continuing to walk this journey with us.

Here’s to the year ahead and to many more conversations over a cup of chai.

Wishing you all a very Happy 2026!

🎙️ The big fat South Asian wedding a cultural celebration or financial pressure?

We are on the move with Chaii & Charcha, as our podcast series heads out into the community for its first-ever roundtable discussion.

Filmed at the buzzing Chaiiwala, Fosse Park in Leicester, the episode asks a question many families quietly wrestle with: Is the Big Fat South Asian Wedding a joyful cultural celebration, or an increasing financial strain?

Here one of our guest shares a strikingly honest reflection on her wedding in India. With around 1,500 guests invited to the wedding lunch by her parents, the scale of the occasion became so overwhelming that she chose not to attend her own reception.

A powerful reminder of how tradition, expectation and personal choice can collide.

🎙️ The big fat South Asian wedding a cultural celebration or financial pressure?

We are on the move with Chaii & Charcha, as our podcast series heads out into the community for its first-ever roundtable discussion.

Filmed at the buzzing Chaiiwala, Fosse Park in Leicester, the episode asks a question many families quietly wrestle with: Is the Big Fat South Asian Wedding a joyful cultural celebration – or an increasing financial strain?

In this teaser, our fabulous guest Nusrat reflects on how weddings have changed, questioning whether the meaning of marriage is being overshadowed by extravagant venues, designer outfits and social media expectations.

Has the focus shifted too far from the commitment itself? Or are weddings simply evolving with the times?

▶️ Join the debate.
Watch the full roundtable episode on YouTube, out on Sunday at 6pm.
Have your say — do you agree with Nusrat, or not?
