🌊 Preparations to reopen Redhill paddling pool, The Quomps Splashpark in Christchurch and Hamworthy Park paddling pool this summer are all underway.

- We are funding the reopening of Redhill paddling pool this year

- The Quomps Splashpark at Christchurch Quay has now permanently transferred to Christchurch Town Council, who’ll now manage and operate the site moving forward

- BCP Council, with a subsidy from Friends of Hamworthy Park is funding the reopening of Hamworthy Park Padding Pool

All three sites are expected to open on, or shortly after Friday 24 May.

This memory came up on my phone this morning. It's my daughter and nephew racing through Paultons Park on a press day, in a golf buggy, to the opening of a new ride and having the time of their lives! It reminded me that being a Raring2go Editor, isn't just something that fits around my family, it's something that has given the kids so many experiences that money can't buy.

After 7 amazing years that have been both rewarding and fun, it will be time soon for me to pass on the baton of Raring2go Bournemouth Editor.
It really is the perfect role when you’re a parent; you work with wonderful local businesses that you’re likely a customer of yourself and write about the things you care about. You have a work/life balance unlike anything I’ve ever had before. I’ve done every school run, been there for all the plays and not had to stress when the kids have been ill!

Babyballet Bournemouth Poole is offering SEND specific classes coming soon to the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole area.
babyballet Shine is a SEND specific programme that allows children with SEND to be in a dance space where they can express themselves and increase their body awareness through sensory activity and dance.
The class is supported with the use of Makaton and SEND structure.
Classes are designed to be lots of fun and facilitate social interaction and engagement, all whilst encouraging the children to enjoy listening to the music and learning to dance.

You may have seen BCP Council on the news recently talking about cuts to the schools budget.

BCP Alliance for Children & Schools will be protesting the proposals tomorrow (Tuesday) at the Civic Centre Annexe at 5pm.

They are asking:
🧒BCP must carry out equality impact assessments, before making any decision.
🧒A full public consultation and inclusion of SEND parents, teachers and professionals.
🧒 BCP must ensure that this plan receives sufficient scrutiny and a full council vote. The BCP safety valve petition asking for this already has over 2000 signatures.
🧒BCP to guarantee they will act within the legislative framework of the Children & Families Act 2014.
🧒BCP to recognise their statutory responsibilities under SEND Code of Practice and guarantee they are met and delivered.
