We're really looking forward to the 190th Rutland Show which takes place on Sunday 2nd June! 12,000 visitors will enjoy a wide range of entertainment across 150 acres and 13 fields, with 100 trade stands and 50 local food retailers. An unusual double horseshoe presented yesterday by The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh will soon be on display in Oakham Castle! The forfeit of a symbolic horseshoe is an ancient right of the Lord of the Manor demanded of passing Peers of the Realm.

Raise a glass to Zoe and Tim Beaver of The Rutland Vineyard! This week, the team received their first ever delivery of wine created from their own grapes. Rutland First Crush made its debut last night, with the vineyard's row sponsors enjoying the first taste... we managed to sneak a glass too, and it's absolutely delicious!
The vineyard's tasting barn near Ketton is open until 6pm today (Friday 3rd) and tomorrow (Saturday 4th May) from 11am-6pm.

Yesterday saw Rutland gather together for an historic proclamation at Oakham Castle, marking the Accession of our new Sovereign, King Charles III. A book of condolence has also been opened at the Castle in memory of Queen Elizabeth II. Well done to Rutland County Council and to High Sheriff Geoff Thompson. God save the King.
