Congratulations to Bolton new mayor from B buzz media & Vvuk Vahoravoice team

History was made today in the Council Chamber as Councillor Akhtar Zaman was inaugurated as the first ever Asian/Muslim Mayor of the town. He has asked me to serve as his Muslim Chaplain for the year to come.
155th Mayor of Bolton.
Linda Thomas was superb over her 2 year tenure.
Great to meet lots of people physically and face to face since the pandemic.

The Centre of Excellence organised high powered meeting at 3D Centre, Bolton to discuss drug issues affecting the community, especially to Asian Community.

Local councillors, faith leaders, community leaders, business community and community organisations representatives discussed issues around drugs and how to raise awareness on the subject.

Community representatives, local political representatives and faith leaders agreed to develop public health awareness campaign abd training programmes, especially drug awareness campaign at all levels to empower communities.

Drug issue is becoming bigger and bigger day by day, and started affecting lot of families and young people in Bolton and surrounding towns.

It was suggested that all sectors should work together and take up this challenge to secure the healthy future of our younger generation.

Vahora Voice UK (VVUK) and BBUZZ Community Media was also invited and they conducted interviews with respective participants.

The meeting was well attended and useful.

Congratulations to The Centre of Excellence and its officials.

A high Profile Conference took place in Manchester City UK, hosted by GM BAME Social Enterprise Network.

We were delighted to be joined by Bolton Cllr Mudasir Dean Cabinet Member for Stronger Communities and Policing, VVUK Hon Vice Chair Usmanbhai Kesvanwala known as Ozybhai 3D, VVUK Hon Trustees Faruk Ugharadar B Buzz media and VVUK Officer Imtiaz Patel Varediawala, Shafi Patel Chair of BMGS and Sikander Badat BMGS attended the conference hosted by Hanif Alli. The aim of the conference was to raise the profile and the concept of social enterprise, how to excelerat networking amongst BME groups and exploring funding opportunities.
Cllr Dean stated many representatives from Bolton attended which shows the strength of our town and the dedication to put Bolton as our priority.
