Creature Corner!

Head to the Bolton Museum Natural History section and you can see all kinds of weird and wonderful animals from around the world.

One of the weirdest has to be the short-beaked echidna from Australia. This hedgehog-looking mammal has a beak like a bird, a pouch like a kangaroo, quills like a porcupine and actually lays eggs like a lizard. But it is warm blooded and produces milk for it's baby, so is definitely a mammal like us. It just does things in a different way.

Stagedoor Productions is a registered charity in Bolton which organises events and activities for children with forms of trauma and illness.

Their storage room was recently flooded, destroying much of their equipment, without which they cannot put on shows and donate the proceeds towards their charitable efforts.
