I haven't posted a recipe in ages because I haven't had as much time to bake as I'd like recently.

I have a massive sweet tooth and even though these Chocolate Oat Biscuits are pretty healthy, they still satisfy my sweet cravings.

With only 4 ingredients they are really quick and easy to make, vegan friendly and could be adapted to GF too.

Chocolate Oat Biscuits

70g oats
1 tbsp cocao powder
95g peanut butter/ almond butter
55ml maple syryp

• Blitz the oats in a food whizzer for about 25 secs
• Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well
• Split mixture into 10 small balls.
• Flatten each ball onto a lined baking tray
• Bake for 10 mins at 180°

This recipe makes 10 small biscuits, so if you want a worthwhile batch, I''d recommend doubling the recipe!

I hope you like them!

Hello!

How are you? Happy New Year!

I had a great time off doing DIY in the house, the usual Christmas antics, and lots of adventures with many mugs of homemade soup!

I am already back to work and have been making customer orders and some pots for a small shop update, hopefully early February (stay tuned!)

It feels good to be back in the workshop and get a rest from the DIY 🤣 Although annoyingly I have a cold, but I think I am over the worst of it.

Wishing you all an excellent year ahead full of fun, colour, creativity and adventure! I'm hoping for this for myself in clay and real life!

2024 has been a very significant year for me. Naturally Christmas is a time of reflection but with so many anniversaries, I have been reflecting constantly this year!

It is 20 years since I graduated from Manchester Met. Even though I successfully passed my course, I struggled to see how pottery could be my future.

It took 10 years to build up the confidence I needed to start my business, and this year I celebrated the 10th anniversary of Tea with Jud.

Another recent anniversary, its been 1 year since I bought my very first home! I would not have believed you, if you told me this time last year that my new workshop would be built and I would be making pottery again!

It has not been an easy year at all. Having a break from working with clay between January to August did me the world of good, but I missed it so much!My workshop is warm and bright and I love making pots in it! What a difference it has made to my life!
I can't wait to show you it next year, if I am able to participate in an Open Studios event.

With all my practical work finished now, it's time to do a deep clean tomorrow (already? yes already! The workshop is so dirty!) and start making a plan for next year - new products, new designs, thinking about events etc... before a rest that involves a lot of sitting and knitting this Christmas.

Thankyou so much for your patience and welcoming me back with open wallets and kitchen cupboards. Thankyou also for all your orders and purchases, and to everyone who donated boxes and packaging. I am still so SO grateful I get to do what I love!

I hope you have a very peaceful festive season.
Merry Christmas!

See you next year.
Jud.

Goodmorning!

📣 This is your last reminder that my online shop is closing tomorrow, Thursday 19th December at noon!

Collection for local orders is still available at my workshop and if you want to send a gift to someone else, I can add a note and post the parcel to your desired shipping destination.

Thankyou so much for making the post office staff roll their eyes when they see me. It's much appreciated!

Yesterday a customer came to collect an order at my workshop. She lives quite local to me, however, the reason she discovered Tea with Jud is because her cousin who lives in Suffolk, bought some of my pottery at Potfest, Haughley Park last year!

How amazing is that! I am so grateful for everyones custom over the years and spreading the word about my work!

Today I filled in my .co.uk
application forms for next year. Keeping my fingers crossed 🤞🏻

It feels good to have another thing ticked off the list before finishing work this Friday!

Much to my annoyance, I ran out of time to make some bud vases and one offs for my online shop.

Now that my practical work has finished and the hectic part of preparing for this time of year is nearly over, I have a small, very small, space in my brain to make a vague plan for next year.

I need to fill in the .co.uk application forms and get my ideas in order to try and make January a little easier. Always forward planning!

I hope you have a nice weekend and are enjoying some festivities!

📣 Thankyou so much for your patience, my online shop is now OPEN!

There are plenty of lovely colourful pots available, however some items are out of stock already as subscribers have been busy shopping since the weekend. Some customers were even shopping as I was updating the stock levels. It all got a bit stressful! 🤪

Thankyou so much to everyone who has placed an order so far. They are all wrapped and on their way!

If you live near me you can collect your order from the workshop. Just select the collection option when you reach the check out. I will e.mail you my new address and arrange a suitable time for pick up when your order is ready.

The web shop will be closing at noon on Thursday 19th December.

Happy Shopping!

I have been so busy recently I haven't been for a swim for 3 weeks! I decided to go this morning before spending another day in the workshop. The water was icy cold. It took my breath away. It hurt, but now I feel good, and ready for day 3 of my glaze-a-thon.

Today I want to show you how I made my Bow Decorations. These were quite fiddly, but a lot less complicated than the Presents!

I rolled out some clay and using a stencil I cut out of card, I traced round the shapes I needed to construct the bow.

I folded the loops, added a knot, then attached the ribbons. I had to work quickly as the clay needed to be soft enough to manipulate each section before cracking. I then did a lot of gentle fettling to make sure there were no sharp edges and added a hook.

My overall goal this year was to make sure the whole decoration was glazed. This means I couldn't lie them flat in the kiln during the glaze firing otherwise they would stick to the shelf, so that gave me another problem to solve!

I ordered a bead tree, which was too small to use for my prototype bow, so again I had to improvise and make some props. I ordered some extra tungsten wire and was able to hang the decorations between the hand thrown props.

After applying the lustre, I hung the Bows in the kiln in exactly the same way as the glaze firing.

Time consuming? Yes!
But worth it? Absolutely! I love these so much! Especially as I achieved my goal. However they are positioned on the tree, they will sparkle from all angles!

Only available in Blairgowrie.

If you don't live locally but would like to buy a decoration, please contact Sarah directly and she will be able to arrange postage for you.

Thankyou!

I thought you might like a closer look at how I made my Christmas decorations this year.

Today I want to show you my presents!

I love experimenting with all techniques in clay, but as I'm a thrower, I always feel the need to throw a decoration! I also wanted the presents to be hollow so they wouldn't be too heavy hanging on the tree.

I threw a very small cylinder and formed the top into a square shape while it was still wet. When it was a bit dryer I added a base and altered the shape into a cube by beating it with a stick. I then pierced a hole in the bottom to allow the air out and also so that each piece could balance on one of the special props I made, which enabled me to glaze the entire piece.

After all the presents were glazed, each one was decorated with a classy gold dot! I then wrapped around some flat brass wire to make the ribbon (thanks to the Knitty Gritty crew for helping me figure out this conundrum!) and strung them up with twine.

These are the trickiest decorations I have ever made, but I am so happy they look like the perfect little Christmas gift I aimed for.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing the process.

These are limited edition and only available at in Blairgowrie. If you don't live locally but would like to purchase one, please contact Sarah.

Inkeeping with my usual Grey & Gold design they are available in Grey or White with gold polka dots.

Along side some gorgeous jewellery you can find my handmade Presents and Bows at Sarah's shop on the High Street in Blairgowrie, and as usual, the window display looks completely fabulous this festive season!

I've been very busy since returning home from Potfest last week.

I finished off some customer orders, made my Christmas Decorations for so that they can dry, (while i take a few days off!). I am very VERY excited about them this year and I really hope they turn out how I have planned 🤞🏻
I recycled some clay and pugged lots more in preparation for starting straight into Christmas prep as soon as I get back to work.

My online shop update will be in December sometime. Please note that it will probably be smaller than usual as I am still working part time, and therefore have less time to make pottery.

There will be all the usual products, of course some grey and gold and if I can get my act in gear, hopefully some new products too!

If you don't want to miss out, make sure you subscribe to Tea with Jud and you will be the first to get an e.mail notification when the shop is live.

Have a good Friday!

It has been one whole year since my last Potfest and I think this was my most enjoyable yet!

Having taken a couple of days to recover and digest the weekend, I want to let you know how incredibly grateful I am that you are still interested in my work and supporting my small business.

From all my new customers to the regular familiar faces, thankyou SO much!

I had so many lovely compliments about my display and my work, if I had stayed any longer I might have got a big head 😆

I love the lake district and it is a huge bonus that I get to spend time with my friends while I'm there for work. As always it was brilliant to catch up with some pottery pals and meet some new lovely makers too.

All of this would not be possible without an event such as Potfest. So, thank you very much to Matt, Dan and the team for creating such an excellent opportunity to share our love of ceramics and looking after us so well!

This year, my accommodation in the woods was very magical/a teeny bit scary! Thankyou so much Anna for your kind hospitality, and to my friends Tamsin, Tilly and Soph who are always there without fail to help me unload or pack up, I am indebted to you!

I hope to see you again next year Cumbria
