Whatโ€™s the big deal with GA4 replacing UA? Just migrate and be done with it. Right?

Think again.

GA4 is totally different from UA. Itโ€™s like comparing apples to hand grenades. The interface isnโ€™t anything like the widely loved, previous versions of Google Analytics.

Weโ€™ve heard several complaints about GA4 from marketers who are new to the system.

Some of the most common complaints are:

๐Ÿ˜ช The interface is confusing and difficult to use
โŒ› Learning how to use the new system takes so much time
๐Ÿ‘ŽData visualization is quite lacking
โ›”It still feels experimental, meaning some features donโ€™t work fully just yet

A couple of weeks ago Google rolled out Bounce rate and conversion rate metrics (user conversion rate and session conversion rate).

They are now available in the GA4 exploration reports.

In GA4, the 'bounce rate' metric is the inverse of the 'Engagement rate'. Bounce rate is the percentage of sessions that were not engaged sessions.

Top GA4 Data Tip For The Day (Implement In 60 Seconds Or Less) ๐Ÿ‘

Before you start. Make sure that you have either the Administrator or Editor permission for the GA4 Property you want to link to your search console account

Also make sure that the email address you are using for the GA4 property (with either the "Administrator" or "Editor" permission) is also used to login to your Google Search Console property for which you must be a verified site owner.

This part is head scratcher ๐Ÿ˜ฑ , but for some weird reason connecting Search Console to GA4 isnโ€™t enough to get search console data in GA4โ€ฆ

You actually have to go into the Library from the reports menu, find the Search Console collection, hit the three buttons in the top right, and select publish.

You'll then be able to pull in Organic Search Clicks and Organic Google Search Average Position right in to GA4.

In UA properties, Analytics groups data into sessions, and these sessions are the foundation of all reporting. A session is a group of user interactions with your website that take place within a given time frame.

During a session, Analytics collects and stores user interactions, such as pageviews, events, and eCommerce transactions, as hits. A single session can contain multiple hits, depending on how a user interacts with your website.

What is a GA4 Property?

Google Analytics 4 properties: Also known as GA4 properties, this Analytics property type can process data from both websites and apps.

Plus it has many new features for all Analytics users.

Note that in the past, there was a separate property type, called Google Analytics for Firebase, which was only for apps, but now these properties have been upgraded to GA4 properties.
