Coronation Celebrations in Blackpool will include a magnificent heritage tram parade along the seafront and a Big Lunch outdoor picnic. There will be live entertainment on the Tower Festival Headland too on Sunday 7 May.

The resort will also take part in the Lighting Up The Nation event that evening with a unique, Coronation-themed Illuminations display.

Buckingham Palace has issued a statement confirming the Queen has fallen ill.

A statement from the palace issued today says: "Following further evaluation this morning, The Queen’s doctors are concerned for Her Majesty’s health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision.

"The Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral."

The Duke of Cambridge and Prince of Wales are on the way to Balmoral

BBC Strictly Come Dancing will return to the iconic Blackpool Tower Ballroom after a two-year absence.

Strictly’s executive producer Sarah James said: “It’s the icing on the cake to be able to confirm that we are returning to the iconic Blackpool Tower ballroom this year, we can’t wait to get back to Blackpool.”

The ballroom, which dates back to 1894, is ready to welcome more Strictly dancing feet after its floor recently had its most extensive restoration in 30 years.
