CORY FOSTER
Fluoxetine 20MG *SONG REVIEW*
By Aftab Latif of Rat Tribe.
Admittedly I don't actively listen to any music without a beat. With my smooth-brained approach to music, if it doesn't have a pulse it doesn't get my time (no aural necrophilia here!). But as with everything there is a time and a place for everything. Fluoxetine 20MG is the song you put on when you've just broken up with your partner, when you scroll through your Facebook feed and gape at all the people you knew in high school posting photos of happy marriages, backpacking holidays and gurgling rugrats whilst you still feel like that hapless school kid who doesn't really know what he wants to make of his life. Sure it's a sad song, but there's a certain sense of catharsis that comes with knowing you're not alone in the world, that there are more people out there who feel just as crap as you do. It's a song you can put on when times get better and you remember how far you've come and how much you've grown. Times are tough for all of us right now, and whilst Cory may spread a little of the gloom he's harbouring in his soul, it helps us all remember that a problem shared is a problem halved.
Musically the song is very stripped back and raw. It's a bloke and his guitar. This adds to the haunting feeling of isolation and pain all packaged in a melody that is simple yet remarkably moving. The song holds up a mirror to some feelings we might not even know we have within us, but I certainly think it's one worth exploring.
