Looks fantastic, lets get in the festive mood 🤩

Visitors are invited to kick off the Christmas celebrations in Hertford at the annual Hertford Town Christmas Gala on Friday 22nd November 🎄🎅☃️

From 3pm, the Town Centre will be alive with craft and food stalls, fairground rides and live entertainment at Salisbury Square from 4.30pm, including the light switch on at 6pm with special guest: Father Christmas!

Plus, throughout the weekend, shops, bars & restaurants will be offering a variety of deals, giveaways & activities, which can be found online https://www.hertford.gov.uk/events-listings/hertford-christmas-gala-4/.

This hugely popular event of the season does get busy so visitors are reminded to please be mindful of one another and, where possible, it is advised to avoid driving into the Town Centre and to limit buggies and dogs.

Sawbridgeworth Community Library is thrilled to announce the generous support received from local businesses, Wright and Co Estate Agents, and Hardsoft Computers. In a heartening development, these two enterprises have come forward to sponsor our subscription to The Times newspaper for the upcoming year, allowing us to continue providing this valued resource to our community.

With recent funding cuts affecting libraries across Hertfordshire, our budget for newspapers had been withdrawn. The Times newspaper, in particular, holds a cherished place in the hearts of our visitors. We will also be providing a warm space during the cold months, so we feel the timing of this intervention could not have been better, highlighting their role as true local champions.

Janet Piercy the library’s chairperson said “What Wright and Co Estate Agents and Hardsoft Computers have done goes beyond a financial transaction; it’s a reaffirmation of community values. In a time when libraries are battling to stay afloat, their support is a vital reminder of the impact of local generosity”.

Both businesses have been long-standing pillars in Sawbridgeworth. As the pages of The Times continue to rustle in our cosy reading corners, we invite all our visitors to partake in the warmth of a library that thrives on shared commitment and local benevolence.
