On Friday I visited the Game of Thrones Studio tour in Northern Ireland and 24 hours later, I felt like I was in it!

A merry medieval meal was held at the Old Palace next to Worcester Cathedral, which I was photographing and of course needed no encouragement to dress up!

We had a photo booth set up and supplied guests with a souvenir photo they could take home, as well as taking general photos of the event throughout the evening.

Providing technical support and a live stream for an all day Archaeology Symposium about the founding of Worcester Cathedral and what existed on the site before it was built, which is fascinating!

Have you seen this fantastic view over the Chapel? 👀 It’s the perfect observation point for our feature stained glass window and it provides a whole new perspective.

The room that this view can be enjoyed from was once an intimate gallery room. Bishop Philpott installed the further stained glass windows here in the late nineteenth century after his wife lost her sight, so she could sit during his services and listen to his sermons without being disturbed.

We can easily imagine her enjoying the wonderful acoustics floating up from below…

In my 16 years of videographing (is that a word??), 10 of which working part time for Church of England Diocese of Worcester, I can’t think of anyone I’ve filmed more than Bishop John! It’s been an absolute pleasure producing annual Lent, Easter and Christmas videos for the last 16 years and filming and photographing all sorts of everything else (including this video!) in between during his time as Bishop. He’ll be missed!

Whoops, we didn’t see the sign!

There was such a buzz of energy and excitement after the Mass in Blue concert in Worcester Cathedral last night, which I think I managed to capture here in some post-concert interviews!

28/04/2024

What a night! We had 11 cameras capturing the concert, it’s going to be a mammoth edit but I’m looking forward to working on it!

This isn't appearing online yet so, ahead of tomorrow, here's the story behind the concert .... if anyone needed any convincing! 😁 🎶🎶

It was great to meet some of the American singers who will be joining Worcestershire choirs at a concert next week in Worcester Cathedral. They were all so passionate about music and very excited to be in Worcester (or Worchester!)

Great to see a preview of the programme for the concert we’re filming next weekend. I’ve been filming and photographing the rehearsals leading up to it, and it’s lovely to see some of the photos (some being screenshots of video footage) used in the programme.

Really looking forward to filming the concert on Saturday in Worcester Cathedral!

Another shot from the promo video I worked with Storm Videos on for Worcester Cathedral.

We had to be very careful not to disturb the Peregrine Falcons, though this shoot was before they were nesting and were helpfully away from the cathedral for most of the day!

“Our trusted Audio and Visual team - In front of camera Jonathan was joined by our regular presenter Francis Rumsey Organist of St Mary’s Witney. Sound recording was as ever managed by Adrian Lucas and behind the camera lens was our regular video photographer James Atkinson. So experienced is this team that the days come together easily, enabled of course by prodigious advance planning by Francis.” (An extract from the blog on the Viscount website)

"He is not here, but has risen."

Luke 24.5

Today, Easter Day, we remember the empty tomb, and celebrate Jesus’ rising from the dead. Through his death and resurrection, Jesus offers us new life in him.
