Ring and LKQ Euro Car Parts promote tyre safety with new display unit

Ring has created a counter display unit (CDU) for LKQ Euro Car Parts stores to highlight the importance of tyre safety, coinciding with Tyre Safety Month in October. The CDU features three of Ring’s most popular products to encourage drivers to regularly check and quickly repair their tyres.

The CDU includes:

- Ring’s award-winning RTG4 Digital Keyring Tyre Pressure Gauge: This lightweight gauge provides accurate readings in PSI, kPA, BAR, and $\text{kg/cm}^2$, and includes an integrated LED light to help locate the tyre valve in the dark.

- Ring’s flat tyre repair kit (RTK6): This kit contains a Particle Gel Sealant with through-valve technology and the popular RAC610 inflator. The sealant is a direct replacement for original equipment, seals punctures up to 6mm, and is washable for subsequent tyre repair. The easy, no-tool procedure takes approximately 10 minutes.

- Ring’s emergency puncture repair tyre sealant (RTS5): A single-use sealant designed for a quick, safe fix to get the driver to a workshop without needing a wheel change. It works on all tubeless tyres.

Henry Bisson, Marketing Director for Ring, emphasised the ongoing need for awareness: “Tyres are a vehicle’s only contact with the road and should be looked after a lot more than they are. We were thrilled to collaborate with LKQ on this CDU, as we’re hoping that this will encourage more drivers to think about their tyres and hopefully with the gauge, they’ll check them, and with the puncture repair kit, they’ll have a way of fixing them and being able to get somewhere safe to change the tyre.”

The initiative aims to address persistent issues with vehicle maintenance observed by the company’s partners, TyreSafe.

Motul endorses Isle of Man winning replica-edition Honda Fireblade

To celebrate Dean Harrison’s double victory on the Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP at the 2025 Isle of Man TT, Honda UK is reproducing a near-exact replica of the Motul-lubricated machine. The bike achieved a third fastest lap in TT history at an average speed of 135.692mph.

Only 12 of these ultra-limited-edition bikes will be made, each priced at $\text{\pounds}24,749$. They will come in full Race Replica livery and include racing spec parts, plus a host of special accessories. Each will be individually numbered with a unique headstock plaque.

Motul UK’s Head of Business, Andy Wait, explained the lubricant's role: “In partnership with Honda, we developed a special oil for Fireblades fitted with HRC parts. Dean’s Fireblade ran this Motul 300V Factory Line Racing Kit 0W-30 oil for both of its Isle of Man TT wins and so when we were asked to sign off on this replica edition, we unhesitatingly gave it the go-ahead.”

Honda Head of Racing and Development, Neil Fletcher, commented: "It’s a genuine privilege to be involved in this project, which marks a fitting tribute to Dean’s outstanding performance at this year’s Isle of Man TT."

The replica bike includes a Tall Screen, Rear Seat Cowl, HRC Oil Filler Cap, GB Racing Engine Cover Set, and Evotech guards and bobbins. The package also includes a Shoei X-SPR Pro Dean Harrison Limited Edition Helmet signed by Dean, a Gee-Tech rear paddock stand, and a custom garage mat.

Dean Harrison enthused: “I’m so proud to be part of such an amazing team, and, if I’m honest, really proud that Honda UK are producing a replica of the bike we put on the top step of the podium, twice. ‘If it looks right, it is right’ they say in racing, and each of these bikes does just that, with every detail spot-on.”

All enquiries for the replica should be made via the Honda dealer network by clicking here.

Independent garages learn to beat main dealers at The Blend 2025

Independent garage owners can compete directly with main dealers, even without a massive marketing budget, attendees at The Blend 2025 were told.

In a packed main-stage session, Garage Services Online joined The Race Group, Castrol’s route to market for independent garages in the UK. They demonstrated how a strong, frictionless digital presence can convert urgent online searches into profitable bookings, showing that even small, independent workshops can thrive in today’s digital-first market.

Trusted by over 700 garages across the UK and Ireland, Garage Services Online is the preferred website supplier for The Race Group. By combining Castrol’s trusted brand and promotions with GSO’s tailored digital solutions, independent garages can compete directly with national franchises. The partnership ensures workshops not only attract more customers but also convert online visibility into profitable, loyal business.

Taking the stage alongside Maisie Raine from The Race Group, Garage Services Online’s Alex Vere shared practical strategies that garages can implement straight away to attract the right customers and boost revenue.

“Your website isn’t just a digital brochure,” said Alex. “It’s your first hello, your shop window, your handshake. When a customer suddenly realises their MOT is due, or discovers a vehicle fault, they turn to Google looking for trust, transparency and convenience. If they can’t find you, or can’t book instantly, they’ll go elsewhere.”

The session explored how workshops can convert these ‘distress searches’ into real business.

Alex and Maisie explained the importance of optimising Google Business Profiles, maintaining mobile-first websites, and offering frictionless 24/7 booking. They also highlighted the value of trust signals, such as showcasing partnerships with brands like Castrol and displaying certifications, which instantly elevate garage credibility.

Another key takeaway was to prioritise high-value services, ensuring they are clearly highlighted and simple for customers to book online, while keeping business information consistent across all directories to boost visibility and improve search rankings.

The power of social media as a complementary channel was also covered. Posting regularly about services, promotions, and completed work keeps garages top of mind, engages customers, and supports recruitment by showcasing the business culture.

"We work closely with Garage Services Online to help independent workshops thrive in the digital space,” said Maisie. “By combining our expertise in the automotive industry and trusted Castrol partnerships with Garage Services Online’s tailored web solutions, we ensure garages can compete with national franchises while attracting more profitable, loyal customers."

The strategic partnership ensures that independent garages not only attract more customers but can convert online visibility into profitable, loyal business. As Alex concluded, “Be visible or be forgotten. Your future customers are already searching, make sure they find you first.”

Over 500 garage owners attended The Blend 2025 in Birmingham on Saturday 18 October, the largest gathering in the conference’s six-year history. Across 20 sessions and two floors, attendees gained practical insights from 34 speakers and explored 16 trade stands.

Long-standing South Wales MOT centre available for £500,000

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, has been instructed to sell Bournville MOT Centre, a long-standing MOT testing business located on the busy Bournville Road in Abertillery, South Wales.

The business has been operated by its current owners for almost five decades, and they are now retiring. This presents an opportunity for new ownership to acquire a well-known local business with a loyal customer base.

The freehold property comprises a substantial workshop building and a separate double garage, all set within a secure site of approximately 0.31 acres. The surrounding area is suitable for use as a car sales forecourt, offering potential for additional income.

The business, which specialises in MOT testing only, generated a turnover of £222,414 in the year to 30 April 2025. The site offers clear potential for expansion through the introduction of additional services such as vehicle servicing or tyre fitting.

Nick Bywater, Director – Retail & Leisure at Christie & Co, commented: “This is a chance to purchase a well-established MOT centre with strong financials and room for growth. The business is ready for a new owner to build on its success and explore additional service offerings.”

Bournville MOT Centre is being sold as a freehold going concern with an asking price of £500,000. The adjoining five-bedroom bungalow and land are also available by separate negotiation.

Former dealership manager loses tribunal appeal over bullying claim

A former Colchester car dealership employee who left the firm due to claimed workplace bullying has lost an appeal at the East London Employment Tribunal.

Paul Bryant, a former retail manager at the Group 1 Colchester Mini dealership, lost his employment tribunal case against Group 1 Retail Limited for constructive dismissal and wrongful dismissal.

The tribunal report, published last Tuesday, included Judge Rebecca Freshwater's verdict that the company did not constructively dismiss Mr Bryant and that he wrongly interpreted his line manager's approach as bullying.

Mr Bryant, who began working at the dealership in 2021, claimed he was constructively dismissed due to a breach of trust consisting of “persistent bullying” by his line manager, Karen Plane, and the company’s failure to investigate it adequately. Mr Bryant raised a grievance email on October 2, 2023, claiming he felt Mrs Plane only criticised him.

Judge Rebecca Freshwater concluded: “Looking at the facts in the case objectively, I do not find that the respondent conducted itself in a manner calculated or likely to destroy or seriously damage the relationship of trust and confidence between the employer and employee… The claimant was not constructively dismissed.”

The Judge added: “Mrs Plane clearly had a robust and direct style of management, but she did not bully or threaten the claimant. In my view, the claimant did not like Mrs Plant’s approach and began to interpret everything she said or did as an act of bullying.”

Mr Bryant's claim for wrongful dismissal, related to his notice period, was also dismissed.

A spokesperson for Group 1 Automotive UK said: “We note that the East London Employment Tribunal dismissed Mr Bryant’s harassment and wrongful dismissal case, having found the evidence of Mrs Plane to be credible. More broadly, as a company, we are committed to maintaining a respectful, fair and inclusive workplace for all colleagues.”

MAHLE TechPRO® Digital ADAS 2.0 automates calibration setup

The new MAHLE TechPRO® Digital ADAS 2.0 has been engineered to make ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) calibration faster, simpler, and more reliable. The system is designed around a fully digital, automated setup that replaces the time-consuming manual measurements of traditional equipment.

The system uses patented MAHLE Keystone technology for self-adaptive calibration, which removes the need to physically move the vehicle and target boards, reducing calibration time by up to 80%. This results in greater precision, less labour time, and eliminates the need for a dedicated calibration space.

To begin calibration, the mechanic simply attaches the wheel clamps, places the digital calibration panel, and moves the laser range finders into position. Number plate recognition eliminates the need for manual VIN input. Once the laser meters measure the distances, they transmit the data to the diagnostic tool via Bluetooth. The calibration panel then moves into the correct position automatically at the touch of a button, completing the setup in minutes.

The MAHLE TechPRO® Digital ADAS 2.0 is designed to be intuitive, with on-screen tutorials and 3D guidance that take the mechanic through the process step-by-step. This minimal training requirement allows workshops to extend their service offering for jobs that require ADAS calibration, such as front-end repairs.

Since the system is targetless, it does not require vehicle-specific target boards, making it a universal and cost-effective tool for all OEMs. Furthermore, a built-in WIFI module keeps the system constantly up to date, ensuring it remains future-proof. Faster turnaround times, reduced labour costs, and guaranteed precision contribute to higher workshop profitability and competitive advantage.
